Andersen 837 Narroline Sash Balancer

Our window ropes broke and needed repaired. The sash balancer did the trick. T

Perfect fit for my old Narroline Window from the 1990s. Instructions were clear. Not too hard to replace if you can get the vertical plastic window track out. Check your windows and the interior trim around your window to make sure the plastic vertical track and top plastic horizontal cover will come out OK. It can be a little tricky to get these plastic pieces out. Check Andersen website for instructions before you attempt the installation. Works very well once installed. I agree with the general recommendation to replace both sides at the same time.

I have now replaced the sash balancers on 9 windows that were installed in the late 70s. Bought the first set from a local window supplier. They had to be ordered and cost more than Amazon. Bought the remainder on Amazon and all went well. However, one set came partially bent on the mounting tab but I was able to bend it back into shape. I was apprehensive about doing this job, but it really is quite easy. Hardest part was notching out the wood frame with a chisel since these replacements a just a bit longer. I wish I had more windows to change out!

It broke after about 5 uses. The retractor for the upper window on one side stopped retracting. It’s not a difficult installation, but it’s a pain to have to do it again after only a few uses!

They were very easy to put in with the instructions that can with them and the visual aid from youtube. We are very happy with the way they worked.

This and YouTube made the replacement job pretty easy.

A little expensive but did the job, much cheaper than replacing the windows
