> 24 hourMy son barely grew into this; he’s still just under the weight limit and at the smallest setting. He had basic swim classes before, so was exposed to simple kicking and ‘scooping hands.’ This swim jacket helps him stay afloat and keep his sense of independence, as he doesn’t want me to hold onto him (I’m always next to him, of course!) He can stay upright or in a forward swim position with these on; if he gets moved to his back, he can roll forward. I think these work best if the child has some control in the water. And remember to remind them it doesn’t mean they can swim! I’ve seen some kids get too confident and then jump into pools without anything. PSA, teach them young to ask permission and wait to be allowed in the water!

> 24 hourMy daughter is 35 lbs and this vest barely fits her. I LOVE the stability and how well she is held up while we teach her to swim. The only problem is that if she grows at all she will not fit into it anymore. The strap is as loose as possible and we have to strain slightly to strap her in. For a 30-50 lb vest I dont know why my 35lb child barely fits. If you have a toddler under 30 pounds I highly recommend this vest, but it it tiny.
