I received this cable as part of a promotion through the Vine program in exchange for my honest opinion. While this cable is designed to allow you to use one of the new 4 prong dryer cables with an older style 3 prong receptacle my interest in this was to convert an 25 cable with 4 prongs that plugged into my generator to three prongs that could be feed directly into my dryer outlet and power my service panel so that I can run the house during electrical outages. The adaptor cord is well made with molded connectors at each end that I doubt could be inadvertently damaged as the cable used on the adapter is quite thick with a very solid black PVC outer jacket and 4 copper 10 gauge conductors. This would be a great way of converting your new 4 wire dryer cable to work with an older existing 3 hole style receptacle without having to resort to hiring an electrician (if you are not comfortable wiring it yourself) which will be a much more costly alternative. Very much recommend this adapter to anyone with a new dryer that is trying to plug into a pre 2000 3 prong receptacle.
