My wife has been talking about this movie since weve been married, she hadnt seen it in years, but remembered that she enjoyed it, but we never could find it streaming anywhere so we finally decided to buy it. I had never heard of it, and she knowing that I like to go in blind on movies, didnt tell me anything about it. However, from seeing the cover I had an idea...WRONG, but in a good way. It held up in her book, and I liked it, and would recommend. Came a day early and in great condition. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would.

I watched this film with my 8 year old grandchild and was so surprised by his emotional response towards the end. I wont say more as I dont want to ruin it if you havent seen it. A wonderful film about bullying, friendship, and imagination for children. It shows how adults can be totally oblivious to the needs of their children and how kids can work out their problems on their own. Highly recommend this for any child 8 or over and should be watched with an adult as it inspires a great conversation

We thought this was an amazing film. My daughters enjoyed it. They asked their friends if theyd ever watched it and most of them thought it was annoying.......BUT....my children have always been story driven and allow their imaginations to react to stories in a limitless fashion. Good film....great values....and fun for the whole family. There may be some scenes that small children may find offensive but my 8 and 11 year old found it manageable.

As an over-50 adult who loves to go with my imagination, I totally bought into this movie. If you let yourself simply believe you can travel into Teribithia with the characters and have no doubt that it is real. The only negative I have to mention is that I think the sadness (Im trying not to give away too much here for those who havent seen the movie) brought into the movie near the end is unnecessary. This movie is intended as a family movie, and throwing that element in is not only sad, its a bit disconcerting. Instead of walking away saying I loved it and it was filled with wonderful imagination!, I walked away saying, WHY did they put THAT in there! It actually made me and my viewing partner angry.

    Greater than one week

Jesse grows in confidence and joy after meeting his new neighbor Leslie, whose unconventional ways and wonderful imagination take them on marvelous adventures. Although I loved it, there were ways in which it didnt live up to the amazingness of the book. The parents were more likable in the movie; it left out how the dad thought drawing was effeminate, and how the mom favored the teenage sisters. What the movie did so well was to capture Terabithia. The squogles (imaginary squirrel monsters) were fabulous.

Im not exactly a movie expert, but I would have to say that I found this movie fairly enjoyable. I was attracted to this movie because of a grade school reading assignment where I had to read the book version of this movie. And it stuck with me even now in adulthood, as few things have. so when I found out that they were making a movie of this, I was immediately interested. But I kept putting it off for a while until I finally watched it recently. And I dont regret watching it at all. Its still not as good as the book but its still something good to see if you want to explore the potential of a childs imagination.

Based on Katherine Paterson"s young-adult novel and filmed in picturesque New Zealand, Bridge to Terabithia has lessons to impart about empathy and self-expression, but the tone is never heavy-handed. Jesse (sleepy-eyed Josh Hutcherson, Zathura), a fifth-grade loner, lives in the country with his parents and four sisters, including pesky May Belle (Bailee Madison), who adores him. His strict father (Robert Patrick, The Terminator 2) works in a hardware store. Money is tight and classmates make fun of his hand-me-downs, so Jesse finds refuge in running and drawing. Everything changes when two writers and their daughter Leslie (wide-eyed AnnaSophia Robb, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) move in next door. Leslie is faster than all the boys, which initially puts Jesse off, but the two soon bond over their love of make-believe. In the forest, they find a creek that can only be crossed by rope. Leslie names the land on the other side Terabithia, where they imagine themselves rulers of the kingdom. Jesse and Leslie also connect with their unconventional music teacher, Ms. Edmonds (Zooey Deschanel, Elf), who encourages their creativity. Despite the tension at home, Jesse"s personal life is finally coming together when the unthinkable happens. Will he revert to his anti-social ways or will he grow from the experience? Though aimed at all ages, pre-school students may find Terebithia"s creatures frightening. For grade-school kids and up, however, there"s much to savor in this smartly written, sensitively acted film. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
