Brighton Beach Memoirs [DVD] [1986] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]

This was our first viewing of the three Neil Simon Trilogies based on his life. My wife and I greatly enjoyed it. We watched it the first time in the privacy of our home without anyone else with us. When we took it to some lady friends home to share it with them, The 60 year old was offended by some of the subject matter, but overall enjoyed it we think, and the other friend in her who is 69 really enjoyed it and laughed most of the way through the movie. I gave it a four star instead of the five I really wanted to give it, because the movie does have some subject matter that is of human nature but yet offensive to some people. For that reason, I would not recommend it to be viewed by small children or youth.

This movies a keeper. I love the character of Jerome and his earnest desire to experience life while being part of a tight family.

I would actually give it 6 stars, if that were possible, because, its that good.

Hey This movie is a gas. Not many of us remember WWII or any of the storys that go with these war years. This is a tail about an American Family with Family in War torn Poland. Its a Great Story with plenty of laughs. Its all about family,hey we dont always like them but we always love them. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

This is not a review of the film. I ordered this DVD with standard shipping and it arrived two days later--ahead of schedule! This company processes and ships their orders very quickly. Although I purchased the DVD as used it came in shrink wrap and contained no scratches. It was as if it had never been open or even watched. The quality of the used DVD was like that of a brand new DVD. I highly recommended this companys used products since they must be very well taken care of. The DVD played perfectly in the DVD player. There was not any skipping or pauses (which would indicate scratching). This company processes and ships quickly and their used products arrive as if they were brand new. I highly recommend ordering from this company since the quality was brillant!

This Neil Simon biopic is witty, affectionate, touching and a lovely peek into a brilliant adolescents head. It also captures the end of one era and the start of another.

I am very happy with my DVD copy of Neil Simons Brighton Beach Memoirs. I gave it to my Mother as a gift. She is 86 years old, and in her golden years, she likes to watch movies that have a good story line, and has good true old fashion values. I feel that every family should watch this movie and learn how to love and respect each other. Jim

Have seen this movie several times, and I never get tired of seeing it, its one of those feel good movies, makes you laugh!!

I was going to watch another movie with Gwenyth Paltrows Mom Blythe Danner tonight but Im too tired,

Back in the day I taped this off HBO and our family watched it over and over. Funny and heartwarming. This was Jonathan Silvermans debut and he is great as the teenage Jewish kid growing up in Brooklyn in the years before WWII. The family deals with their personal conflicts and social issues, but there isnt anything preachy about the message. The ensemble cast turns in a wonderful performance and the writing is, well, Neil Simon. Translated beautifully on the big screen.
