Greater than one weekThese Brothlaw 5W LED bulbs can be used in several places besides a fridge and their cost could be easily recoup by the energy savings they provide. The regular incandescent bulb wastes energy. In the fridge it waste energy in two ways...when the bulb goes on and when the heat starts warming the fridge causing the compressor and fan to run longer. In the house lamps and fixtures by raising temperature in the summer. A 40W incandescent bulb consumes 40 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity every 1,000 hours and the 5W Brothlaw LED bulb consumes only 5 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity every 1,000 hours. The national average cost per kWh is 14.4 cents per kWh and in New York, where I reside is around around 23 cents and this month was 30 cents. In the summer it could go beyond 50 cents. Just going with the average here, it costs me $9.20 every 1,000 hours to run each of those little incandescent bulbs and just $1.15 (8x less) to run each 5W Brothlaw LED bulb. It might not be much if you have one of two, but when they are found in lamps, cabinets, recessed fixtures, etc.. it adds up quickly. These Brothlaw 5W LED bulbs are brighter than the 40W they replaced and also made the fridge look better.

> 3 dayWe moved into a new home and the previous owner was using bright white 65w lights in everything. It was very blinding. We replaced almost all bulbs with these and it’s so much better now. It’s a preference, really, whether you use warm white or bright white. Either way it brought our electricity bill down $90 switching to these.

> 3 dayE26 is the regular size light bulbs base, but the bulb is a lot smaller than the regular size light bulb. I do hope to find a smaller base for the freezer light. This one did nicely in my fridge and lights up everything inside. I like LED as long as it is Daylight White and not that warm white. I’m not a fan of warm white at all. Hopefully these last as long as they are suppose to, but with any product. Sometimes you get a dud! I’m lucky so far and hope to stay that way!

Greater than one weekWe have an app that measures our energy usage in real time. In our fridge, the old 40-watt bulbs were using approximately 75-80 watts every time someone opened the door. After I replaced them with these two new bulbs, the electric meter barely budged when I opened the door -- maybe 4-6 watts. This will likely save a ton of money over the course of their lifetime. They are LEDs, so they are much cooler/bluer than our old bulbs, but its not grating on the eyes like some of the new holiday lights. And Im less worried about this since they are only used when the fridge is open. Very happy with the smaller energy usage and they are nice and bright, illuminating the entire fridge. Highly recommend if youre looking to save a bit.
