Impressive tool to have in checking outlets. It gives you direct info on electrical wiring and voltage status.

Absolutely outstanding product that does exactly what it stipulates in the manual. Beautiful digital display that is easy to read and intuitive that both pro and layman can decipher. This product can stand along side its expensive competitors with brand names! You can not go wrong with this purchase.

With adjustable sensitivity, you can switch between low sensitivity for more accurate reading or high sensitivity distinguish/Non-contact mode to detect live/neutral wire. The large LCD display make it easy to read the measurement, the flashlight is a plus when you use it in the dark especially in case of circuit problem, the hard case protects the tester wherever it is stored.

So this works somewhat like its supposed to, but it has inherent flaws. Insufficient instructions, not that easy to read, and most annoying- cannot be read in daylight. The readout literally disappears. Granted, not that surprising given the price, but it definitely does not deliver on what was advertised.

For the wiring test, it is excellent. Give clear indications of what wrong. The non contact voltmeter(NCV) is worthless. It has only gone off while plugged into the outlet. Still 5 stars though.

I liked the design and the features. For the first test uses, it was exactly what I was looking for. I never liked the designs with the 3 lamps. Always needed to look at the key to determine exactly what was being displayed. The triangle does a good job showing the proper hookup and the voltage values ensure you have no excessive resistance in the line. Like I said, the testing I did around my own home looked fantastic. I quickly tossed the unit into my bag and anticipated my first use. I took it to a place that my group was setting up for an Afghan Refugee family and hit my first GFI test. The device went dead and has not worked since. I switched to an older 3-lamp unit and the GFI worked fine and the wiring was correct. My meter showed voltage as expected. No idea what happened, but the first time I needed to use the device it simply died. Will not buy again or recommend. Would love to see a similar device by a more reputable manufacturer.

Used it for 3 or so months? Then all of a sudden it just wouldnt power on any more. Tried new batteries and nothing. Kind of a shame because I liked it when it was working, despite being rather bulky it was kinda nice to have a tick tester, volt meter, and continuity tester all in one. Didnt last long enough for me to buy again though. Note, even though the tick tester has a bunch of lights, it only has 3 actual levels for proximity - low, medium, high.
