When not in use these tend to dry out quickly.

I had a third-party refill cartridge in my printer for a couple months and the printer developed strange refusal to print problem. After several hours of rebooting the printer, etc., I replaced the cartridge and was then able to get the printer running again. I cant rate the longevity because I just installed it a few days ago.

I didnt like the increase in cost but it seems like everything has gone up since the virus hit. Certainly less expensive than Walmart.
