It is stretchy. I have the adult version so kind of knew what to expect as far as material & quality but I was afraid it would be way too big. It’s thicker than the typical cotton baby hats, good for colder temps.

Stretches but also bounces back to keep its shape nicely. Keeps my daughter warm and looks adorable. Definitely recommend.
