> 24 hourI, personally, use paddles mainly when operating CW. I wanted a straight key so I could try to get a handle on my timing when sending. This key is very well built! It feels very sturdy and can be easily adjusted to preference. It includes a cable as well as a little pouch to store it in. Even as I mentioned, Im very new to straight keying and ham fisted my way through a few QSOs...but it certainly wasnt the key at fault! I believe this is a great option for a minimal as well as somewhat substantial portable straight key!

> 24 hourI bought this as my portable key, but its rapidly becoming my favourite key all-round. I replaced the knob with a wooden drawer-pull because I prefer that feel, but other than that its great.

> 24 hourI want to be clear up front, Im barely dipping a toe into the whole realm of CW. That means, to a degree, I dont know what Im talking about. However, I really like this key. It has a very solid feel with a lot of heft in the base. I tested it on my radio, and it worked like a champ. Nothing other than telling the radio I was doing CW was needed, and this thing got the job done (even if I was sending, extremely slowly). You adjust the front and back contacts independently. You can even take it all apart and get some (sold separately) magnets to mount it to a plate or your radio directly (assuming a metal case). The color is nice. Construction is from great material. Overall, I couldnt be more pleased with my first CW key.

> 24 hourThis is the first key I have ever purchased. Im new to CW and have been banging on this straight key every day since I got it. Im impressed with the fit and finish. No side to side movement of the key. I like the I can easily adjust the travel and the resistance. Hopefully in the next couple months I will be practiced enough to use it on the air.

> 24 hourVery solid, well built. The magnetic adjustment is very precise. I expected magnetic hold for the base but it is heavy enough and has felt pads so it’s not needed.

> 24 hourThe key I received, large size, did not have the knob pictured on the left of my photo, but the dish-top knob thats on the small size key on the right. Is there a way to obtain the left knob? This would be a five star review if not for that. The dish top knob causes fatigue in my wrist. Thank you.

> 24 hourThe key is mainly constructed of anodized aluminum. Thr base feels like it might be weighted. There is a screwed down hatch on the bottom, but I didnt open it up, presumably this is to access the wiring for the 1/8 phone jack, but it might also be access for weighting the base. The spring tension is adjusted by a thumb screw that moves two opposing magnets closer or farther apart. I found it a little difficult to get just the right sweet spot with travel and magnetic pressure, but I am not that practiced with straight keys yet so it might not be an issue to an experienced straight key user. Overall its a little smaller than a typical J38 key, mostly because the knob doesnt extend as far out from the base. There are 4 TPE rubber feet on the bottom to help keep it from slipping around, but they will be more or less effective depending on the surface you set it on, and whether they are dirty or clean. Id like to see a couple of holes for screw mounting to a heavier base for those who want one. It was also supplied with a short phone plug cable and a drawstring pouch. Overall it seems to be built well and looks nice on a desk. If straight keys are your thing, this might be worth a try.

> 24 hourI was looking for a new key to keep with my portable transciever when on vacation. This looked like a good value and the reviews were all quite favorable. It arrived within two days and I was immediately impressed with the solid feel and quality of the workmanship. Once I adjusted to my liking, I went on the air and proceeded to use it for two hours straight. I was very happy with the overall feel and performance and can honestly say that it rivals my Vibroplex keyer, which cost over twice as much! The only disappointment for me was the supplied cord, which was too short for my radios, which have the key jacks on the back. Add a foot to the cord and it will be perfect. I had a spare cord that I immediately put to use and the problem was solved. I highly recommend this and may purchase another one, just to have a spare.
