> 3 dayI tried to ignore the other reviews and just installed this mount right out of the box. Sure enough, my mobile radio couldn’t transmit at all. So I did what everyone else has to do, and disassembled the entire mount and used a dremmel to scrape powder coat and paint off every screw thread and washer; anywhere two pieces of the mount touched, I took the paint off. Then I put it back together and checked with a multi-meter to make sure there was continuity all the way through the mount. Finally I was able to re-install it and my radio worked. If you do not do this, your mount will absolutely not ground itself and your radio will not work. Otherwise, a great, versatile, and rugged piece of hardware.

> 3 dayAwesome. Easy to install, no movement to rub paint. The functionality is wonderful due to the ability to move an antenna up or down as your circumstance requires, the top portion pivots. My Ham antenna shows perfect reception.

> 3 dayPut this on my truck, on on the engine hood, a friend of mine recommended that I add a chassis ground wire to help make sure the antenna is grounded. I have had problems whatsoever with this.

> 3 dayThe core of the large friction washer broke out after less than a year installed on my 4Runner. Most of that time there was no antenna installed on the base (HF only occasionally) and it was even more rare for me to drive with it installed (ATAS-120A). I will be buying another one for parts to avoid having to completely tear apart my headliner to re-run cable, but I cannot recommend.

> 3 dayThis little lip mount was easy to install on my Subaru Forester 2010. Be sure that you ground it properly if you decide to buy it. Ask your local hams for help if you need help installing it, that’s what they’re for. My only concern was what I’ve been seeing a lot with newer uhf style connectors, and that is that manufacturers are not filling the part that separates the inner conductor and outer with much. There is nothing but air and a small bit of plastic between the outer and center conductor. I’m concerned how well this mount will hold up in the weather over the long haul, but I haven’t heard any complaints from others. Also I checked just now my magnount has the same issue and it’s been holding up for about 4 years now.
