> 24 hourIve been wanting/needing an analizer for a long time now, been borrowing friends MFJ products and just never wanted to buy one of those. When I found the Comet CAA-500 and read about it, I was excited to give it a try. After having it for months now and allowing my friends to use it and compare to the MFJ products, it stacks up pretty well. In fact my friends are all wanting the Comet product now and appreciate its superior quality. I bought a small aluminum case from Harbor Freight to store/transport it in and it travels well. I love its capabilities and overall quality. Recommended product.

> 24 hourEasy to use. I think I read the manual first, but there was really no need. Its 95% intuitive for a ham whos experienced with HF. Id give it 5 stars, but Im dinging it 1 star for: 1. not including a case of any kind (got a nice hard-sided one for $25, see below) 2. the fact it should have a rechargeable LiPo battery included 3. that it doesnt have a USB port for exporting data to a computer for sharing with the world 4. that the 300-500 Mhz range is routed to an N style connector. I understand theyre less lossy at UHF, but practically how many of us use them? At least include an N to SO-239 adapter (which I ended up buying) This is probably the top of the line manual analyzer out there. If youre the sort of ham who thinks he knows better than a computer, this ones for you. You create the graphs either by auto sweeping a range or manually doing so. If you want to record the readings, youll have to do something like what I do: snap a photo of the display with my phone. Not elegant, but it works. Im sure there the Mark III will be out next year with a USB port. After using MFJ units, this is a definite step-up. It seems like a pro-grade item. I found the perfect hard case on Amazon. Only $25 and made in USA. Search for Seahorse 230 Medium Tactical Case with Foam, Black. It has room for the Comet, manual, and several adapters.

> 24 hourThis new antenna analyzer by Comet is great. It is very solidly constructed. I love the combination of analog needles and the digital lcd display. The ham radio presets are perfect. I recently installed several new ham radio antennas and used this meter to adjust and test each one before connecting to my radios. The band sweep function is great as you put the indicator on the ham band you will be testing. Then press the band sweep button and a swr curve is displayed on the lcd screen across the entire frequency range being tested. This unit will also graph and overlap up to 5 readings, perfect for making antenna adjustments and seeing how the changes have affected the swr. I highly recommend purchasing the optional soft case as this is a very high precision testing instrument that you will want to protect. It also runs on either 6 alkaline or rechargeable AA batteries and includes a built in battery charger. An optional ac-dc adapter is required and can be used to power the unit or recharge the batteries. The one thing to keep in mind with this analyzer is that it does not compensate for coax cable connected to the antenna. You will need to use a very short piece of coax cable while testing but this is not a great problem. As a ham radio operator, I highly recommend this antenna analyzer for any shack since it is both a precision and cost effective solution for testing and tuning your antennas!
