Continental Conti Valve Extender (Pack of 2)

> 3 dayVery good and light. I remove a start because I find annoying that they force us to buy 2 when many people have a disc in the back and 808 in the front e.g.

> 3 dayI have a Dahon folder which came with deep rims and tubes with long, long valve stems. When I wanted to add sealer against thorns, I could not find tubes with removable presta valve cores that had a stem long enough to fit the rims. Their valves just barely peeked out from the rim with not enough room for a presta pump to fit. So I used these extenders to solve the problem. Now I can add sealer. These can be transferred to new tubes if necessary. Perfect solution. ***FOLLOWUP SEPT 10, 2016 *** SUBTRACTING TWO STARS FOR DELICATE CONSTRUCTION I had trouble with one of these extenders and had to order another set. The seal on the end (the white ring in the photo) broke off in one extender. The sealer I added had jammed this end and I could not add air to top off the pressure. I unscrewed the valve core from the outer end of the extender and pushed a wire down the tube to clear the lump of sealer. It held air OK that time. But the second time I topped off the pressure, the same thing happened and it would not take air. This time I unscrewed the entire extender, but the end with the white sealing washer was damaged, probably from the time I had unclogged the tube before. The end with the white washer broke off entirely, so the tube would no longer hold air even when I tried teflon plumber tape to the threads. THE END WITH THE WHITE WASHER SEAL IS EXTREMELY DELICATE AND WILL BREAK EASILY. I had to reorder a second set because once the sealer washer is broken it will NOT hold air. Perhaps it would if you were to glue this section to the original valve stem with something like Gorilla Glue, but then you could not remove the tube when replacing it (the extender is larger diameter than the rim hole). I would much rather these extenders be made from a more durable metal, brass or steel. So I took off two stars for how delicate these are and how vulnerable the essential seal is to breakage. The wall thickness of the sealing end is too thin for the alloy it is made from. Note the sealing washer fits over a reduced diameter tube at this crucial point. Otherwise these work well.

Greater than one weekI am sure you, like me, are thinking... do I really need this? I am also sure you, like me, learned that theres a specification on a tire tube that tells you the length of the presta stem. So I regret to inform you... yes its necessary if you, like me, bought tubes with too short of stems and realize it is not worth shipping the tubes back. Super easy to install. I had the Park Tool VC-1 tool but the included little wrench works fine. I used the included wrench to install the main cylinder. All hand tight and havent noticed any leakage. I am almost certain I can use them on the spare tube when the time comes (since I have 3 tubes but only two extenders).

> 3 dayExactly what youd expect. They install easily, and with a couple wraps of Teflon tape they lose no more than 20 psi/week with some Michelin tires inflated to 85 psi.
