    Greater than one week

It’s easy to pull apart for cleaning. I use a furniture brush attachment and vacuum the outside and inner permanent screen most regularly. It also requires a damp cotton swab cleaning of the dust sensor fairly regularly—but that’s also quick. It was smelling mildewy after about a year, and changing the carbon pre-filter wasn’t helping, so I tried soaking the permanent screen in our big sink with warm water, baking soda and a little dish soap for a few minutes. I didn’t need to scrub or anything—just rinsed and propped it up in a safe spot to dry. It looked so much cleaner—and the thing hasn’t smelled since! I hadn’t realized how dirty it was. I’ll probably need to do that yearly or so I’d guess.

In AZ where it’s super dusty. Had bad allergies and dust constantly. This really improved my quality of life. It can get pretty loud on max setting.

I live in a 260 square foot studio in Manhattan and the air can get rather thick with dust. I was experiencing several instances throughout the day of sneezing fits. I would sneeze 10-15 times in a row sometimes 3 or 4 times per day. I decided to try this device and I can whole heartedly recommend it. I havent had one sneezing fit since plugging it in. It cleans the air of dust and other irritants very well and is worth the money which cant be said of too many products these days.

I just bought my second Coway Airmega - because Ive had the first one for 5 years, it still works great, and I needed a purifier in another zone of my home. This time around, I needed something for my office. The microphone I use for calls somehow picks up pretty minimal background noise - but this purifier is perfect. The 1st level is nearly silent, and level 2 is quieter than our bathroom fan. I typically put mine on level 3 to sleep, because its really good white noise. I really like that this model uses a pretty big air filter, so it catches a lot. Every time I clean the filters or replace them, Im impressed by what it picked up. The ONLY downside to this air purifier is the notification light on the top - theres an indicator light that changes colors depending on air quality in the room. When trying to sleep, its pretty bright, so weve covered the light with tape. Other than that... its so nice, I bought it twice! TLDR; if you want an air purifier that packs a punch, but also has a super quiet setting, stop looking and buy the Coway Airmega!

UPDATE: Yesterday our backyard door was unintentionally left open. When I found it, our neighbors had already gone through their dose of nicotine and it smelled like they finished it in our house. Fantastic. I closed the room off (165 sqft), cranked the fan speed to 3, turned the ionizer on, and set the timer for 1 hour. After 2 hours (vacating the area for an equal time as the ionizer is used) I walked in and the lingering smoke smell was no more. Original: First Id like to point out that the manual does not give any instructions about the ionizer. What it is for, when to use it, how it can be harmful in some situations - nothing. The only reference is showing where the button is. I stumbled across this information before purchasing and bought the Coway AP-1512HH because there was a switch for the ionizer. However, I did expect some instructions as to when and how to use the ionizer to minimize harmful side effects. Please research this before purchasing if you have respiratory problems or using this around babies. You CAN use the ionizer option safely, but should not be in the room (or house for extra measure) while in use and for the same amount of time after it has been turned off. With all that said, I am still very pleased with this purchase. I bought it over competitors for 3 reasons. The first is the option to turn off the ionizer. Most air purifiers do this however but the switch meant I could compare it to non-emitting filters as well. The second is the cost over a 4 year use. After years of use, the savings after totalling up filters and product was $100 at a minimum. I compared it to Winix 5500-2, Levoit LV-PUR131S, and Honeywell HPA300. Winix filters are very expensive and cost twice as much as the Coway after 4 years. Honeywell was on the other end of the spectrum but the upfront cost of the product kept it costly. The third is the noise level being 3 dB lower than the rest. I plan to use it around my newborn, so this became a factor. This is not to say the other products are loud. The fact it lined up with the cost layout simply provided more reason to purchase it. Even at the 2nd fan setting, I kept checking with my hands if it was actually running. It was and it did not disturb my wife nor I throughout the night (set up 2 ft away from the footboard). Now my anecdotal evidence for its effectiveness has to be understood and taken as that - anecdotal. One night of sleep is a terrible data set. But I felt such a difference the next day that I wanted to share right off the bat. I had the Coway running for 3 hrs on the medium setting (ionizer off) before we went to bed. For the past weeks, I have been waking up with irritated eyes and a very scratchy throat (NOT COVID). I actually would wake my wife up throughout the night when scratching my throat in my sleep. After 7 hrs of sleep, I woke up with barely a scratch in my throat and my eyes were totally fine. All other factors remained the same, so Im impressed with the change literally overnight. My next steps will be to run the filter before leaving for work and a few hours before we go to bed. Will update the review if anything significant changes. TL;DR - Add to cart. Research if ionizers fit your need before turning the option on.

I dont want to be one of those giddy-with-first-impressions folks in not testing a product thoroughly for months before posting a review... but this thing makes me wanna do just that. It arrived simple & understated.. and by that I mean, unpacking was easy and it did not take brute force or cleaning stray pieces of styrofoam for 30 minutes after unboxing. It slid out, I removed two pieces of protective styro caps, and unwrapped the shrink wrap. I took off the plastic wrap from the filters (which were already in place so I didnt have to read a book of instructions first to figure out where to put them). Then I simply plugged this sucker in, and it worked on auto right out of the box. It was like unboxing an Apple product -- so intuitive, so seamless, so simple. Kudos to manufacturers. And of course, as first impressions go... it looks good. So I love it even more because its pretty. Aesthetics aside, it is also built well... and perfectly sized. I attached photos to show that its not too tall, nor is it too deep. It is a bit shorter than my nightstand, which is of an average height. Its a bit on the wide-side, but you can position it however you see fit. It does need about a foot on the right side to allow for proper air flow, and probably a good idea to keep the front end free & clear since the circle is from where it pulls in air... but I found this guy could be positioned in many places throughout my home without being an eyesore. I have it in my bedroom currently, but I plan to buy one for my family room as well, and maybe the basement also. It really does work. My bedroom is often very stuffy, especially in the winter when we have the heat temperature set to 73 degrees -- I like it warm & toasty, but my nasal passages feel otherwise. I do suffer from pollen allergies, as well as mild allergies to dust mites, grass, ragweed, mold spores, and pet dander (although I still have 2 shed-heavy fur-babies.) But my allergies are never bad enough to warrant any real attention, I just suffer through it since theyre pretty mild. HOWEVER, I keep saying mild when in all reality, I didnt know the difference between no allergy and mild allergy until sleeping one night with this purifier running. Man what a difference. My nose was not all dry and cracked up feeling on the inside. It also was not runny or scratchy, which is how it often feels after running my humidifier all night (which I run to keep my nose from feeling so dry!) This machine does not mask the issue, or dampen it, or freeze/cold draft it away.... it CLEANS THE AIR. I know, I know... its hard to imagine, but boy is it easy to feel. I slept for the last 2 nights like a newborn baby. Granted, Ive only had it for 2 days but the difference from walking into my bedroom vs the other rooms of my home, cannot be ignored. My home isnt particularly old, or stuffy, or dirty, or dusty. Yes we have pets, but I am a Dyson maniac and we have a brand new HEPA HVAC filtration system; we have our ducts cleaned regularly; and, there are no smokers or other reasons for contaminated air (at least that I can find.) However, when plugging this thing in... it ran a blue and then purple light for a bit on auto, but then changed to RED (which freaked me out a bit as it sounds rather aggressive). And it ran that way for about 10 minutes. I left it to its job, and when I returned a little while later, it was back to a blue light and I could barely hear it running anymore... but the air did in fact feel lighter, crisper, and easier to breathe. It felt much like the very first time I walked onto my hotel balcony in Vancouver, Canada and took in a giant breath. It just felt... clean. Air quality is a legitimate thing, and having poor air to breathe makes life a less tolerable for people with allergies or lung issues. Again, not something I suffer from necessarily, but I appreciate the cleaner air this provides nonetheless. So I cannot imagine how much better breathing could be for someone that does have serious allergies, asthma, or other breathing troubles. I would say this gem is a no brainer, if you do. But even if you dont, youll still notice the difference after plugging this guy in and letting it run for about the first hour. I do think the auto feature could become a bit of a power monger as I have never witnessed it turn off after being on auto as if to say okay, Im done. All clean. So I do set the timer feature when Im not going to be upstairs and I shut it off when Im leaving the house for awhile. Another thing to note is that there are studies about potential harmful effects to lungs when using the UV and ion cleaning features. It is recommended that you only use these settings when not in the house as breathing in UV treated air is said to be harmful as a result of O3 air, similar to breathing in air high in ozone levels. So I only set my purifier with these features when not in the room. I cant yet speak to durability or filter tolerance, but they are priced reasonably enough that changing once or twice a year would be totally acceptable. I will update if I find that longevity or level of purifying impact worsens, or if cleaning/upkeep isnt as great with this machine moving forward, but for now... I am a Coway air purifier believer. ** UPDATE - after 7 months of constant use, I will say that my initial reactions were still pretty accurate in that this purifier does do what it claims to do. I notice that it is reactive to smells, smoke and other air-purity issues when they are occurring, even when I am simply cooking sausage or something extra smokey or fragrant in the kitchen -- while I have this unit upstairs in my bedroom, which is a considerable distance from the kitchen (bedroom in front of the house on 2nd floor, kitchen in the back of the house on the 1st floor.) So I know that it indeed works because I can hear it begin to run rapidly when I accidentally burn something or even when making bacon or something that has a smell or odor. I also know that it is filtering dust and pet hair, because both of my Coway purifiers (I have one upstairs and the tower unit downstairs) needed HEPA filter replacements at 6 months. The manufacturers suggestion is 6 months for the carbon odor filter, and 1 year for the thick, HEPA filter.. but my HEPA filter was so dirty at 6 months that the change filter light came on for the tower unit, so I figured I would change this 1512HH unit at the same time, and it definitely needed it. The filters were both clogged with so much dirt, dust and pet hair.. I couldnt believe this stuff was floating around my house for it to grab. In fact, even strands of my hair were in the filter! And my hair is pretty long, well below shoulder-length. I figure it must have sucked it in from the floor. Pretty cool purifier... I still give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up after 7 months of use.

I have been using it for 2 weeks, Eco mode. Working well, and quiet. The only thing I do not like is the blue light is very bright, and bothers me at night. I covered it to make it less bright.

Ok, so as the title states, Ive already wanted to return this thing once... no twice now. For the simplistic functions of this fan, it works but for the connected portion, its a total PITA and quite honestly, unless you want to fool with it on a somewhat regular basis, the connected/wifi version is not worth it. Straight out of the box, had a difficult time getting the device connected to our network and to the app. The instructions say that it works on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks but we ended up having to create a 2.4ghz network off our router (we have one that allows creation of both) just to get it to connect and even then I went around in circles with it to get it connected. When I finally got it connected, it seemed to drop offline a couple of different times and come back up. Only once did it drop completely offline and not come back up which put me through the same setup process again. After about 30 minutes and multiple expletives later, it finally reconnected. I like to think of myself as tech inclined. I work in IT on a support desk so I have the mindset for this type of stuff. IMHO, the tech in this device is pretty cheap, its definitely not the best or even mediocre tech. If you arent tech savvy, Id steer very clear from the connected version of this fan/purifier. With all of that being said, it seems to function as it should. I mostly run it on 3 during the day and on 2 at night. 3 is quite loud. 2 is enough for that white noise sound as its in our bedroom. 1, you can barely hear anything. Ive had to clean what they call the pre filter once already which is the screen over top of the charcoal filter. I get notifications somewhat frequently that our air is very unhealthy but not sure how accurate it is. Given the tech for the wifi is pretty crappy, Im not relying heavily on what this thing tells me about our air. Why? Because if I change the fan speed a couple of times in a matter of minutes, the sensor tells me that our air is healthy. The app is fairly simple. The controls from the app are slow to respond. If you want to change a setting, for example: mode from auto to eco then change the fan speed and turn the light off/on -on the device, this is going to take you at least 45 seconds. You press the button on your phone, wait several seconds before you can press the next button, so on and so forth. It allegedly connects to Alexa so you can say wake word turn air purifier to level 2 or something such as that but I find that its severely hit or miss. Half the time Alexa tells me that the device doesnt exist. I have until March 2nd for a return window so if this thing drops off line on me again, its going back. Oh- also, the registration email only comes in Korean. Thankful for Google Translate!! Buyer beware.

Just received this and it’s working well so far. Four stars because this was meant to replace a fan in the bedroom that is used for white noise while sleeping. There are only three fan speeds, and there needs to be one more between 2 and 3. Two is very quiet, almost imperceptible. 3 is very loud with a continuous high-pitched whine in the background. We’re going to keep the Coway for air purification, but we’re having to keep the white noise fan as well. Not quite what we had hoped.

The mighty air purifier is equipped with cutting edge features to keep your indoor air clean. Equipped with a HEPA efficiency RATING of 99.97percent , it uses a four-stage filtration system to effectively eliminate odors and pollutants. This mighty machine includes an air quality indicator through our particle sensing technology that will kick your air purifier into high gear when needed. And when 30 minutes when pollution is not detected for 30 minutes, the fan will automatically stop to save energy. Power Consumption - 4.977.8 W CFM 246. Secondhand Smoke - Ideal for smokers and those who live with smokers, the Coway Mighty efficiently reduces air contaminants and odors related to second-hand smoke
