Greater than one weekI work as a physician in a large referral hospital associated with a national system. One of the greatest examples of government overreach is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). I work in the emergency room as a physician. If I go away from the computer even for a few minutes by computer logs out and requires me to log in again. There is a bug in the computer and so when logging back in the dictation system no longer works correctly, requiring a reboot. To say this is a big impediment to workflow is like saying congress has a little bit of a spending problem. My partners and I have contacted IT multiple times to get the logout abolished. I swear to God health care systems must take all their IT people to shock therapy in some dark room until they all say in a robotic voice this is a HIPAA requirement and we cant change policy. Ive come near taking a baseball bat to the computer on a few occasions, thinking it wouldnt be such a bad way to go into retirement. At least it would be a great story. Then I discovered this little gadget. Whoever invented it should be able to throw orphans out on the street and still go to heaven. Since the program is on the jump drive IT cannot remove it. I cannot tell you the joy it gives me to plug this in and still see my computer open when I have to enter perhaps life saving orders into the computer. Plus it lets me stick it to the man, if only in a minor way. I figure I can always defend my actions by saying I was acting in the best interests of the patient.

> 3 dayOur work computers don’t give us permission to turn off the screensaver, so whoever is projecting during a meeting or conference call has to keep jiggling the mouse to keep their screensaver from turning on. This device is perfect. It keeps the computer awake without interfering with using it, and doesn’t require administrative rights to use.

Greater than one weekI havent noticed any adverse affects from this, if you use it on a system that you leave it on all day you might burn a screen out thats about the only thing I can think could go wrong. Otherwise it saves me from a lot of mouse jiggling while multi-tasking on multple machines.
