Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560MB/s - CT500MX500SSD1(Z)

Ive been using SSDs pretty much since they were released, first just a 128gb drive for my OS and I kept my platter HDDs, then I decided to get a 500gb SSD for some storage, (both of these were Samsungs). I then upgraded my moms PC with Crucial SSD and I was very impressed with the speed and easy installation and maintenance. So for my most recent build I used an M.2 500gb for my OS drive and stepped up to these 2tb Crucial MX500s for storage and so far I couldnt be happier. I built the PC and before the build was complete I did experience a fatal Windows crash as soon as I attempted to Update the Crucial SSD Firmware but this may have been caused by a number of things since, at the time, all of the hardware (mobo, cpu, drives, etc.) had just came onto the market. Ive had zero issues since. If you need some more speed and/or storage from your PC the 2tb is the way to go. If money is an issue keep your eye open for sales, and of course always backup your data. (Since I only have SSDs in my PC in addition to online backup I keep a few HDDS in a dock and use various methods of backup). If you frequently use USB storage be sure to invest in a high speed USB drive, whatever size you need, because a nice USB 3.0 or even better a 3.1 stick transferring to and from a nice SSD is a thing of beauty lol, its so fast!

Upgraded from a regular hard drive. Improve read speeds. Alright on write speeds.

These Crucial SSDs perform beautifully and I love that they come with a 5-yr warranty. They are a great value too. They’re currently my favorite SSD for upgrading older computers and the results are fantastic.

I bought two of these. Both drives replaced existing 7200 RPM conventional SATA III drives. The installation was seamless, and the computers (Dell Precision Workstations T3500s) run much better/faster; performance like a new computer!
