> 3 dayI remember how impressed I was when I booted from my first SSD, the computer booted up in around 20 seconds which was very impressive and a massive step up from the minute or so it took to boot from a HDD. I never thought we would get a performance increase in storage so soon after the advent of cheap SSDs but here it is. The drive is installed in an onboard M.2 slot on my Gigabyte Aorus Z370 K3 motherboard and booting from this NVMe drive takes around 6 seconds. Mileage will probably vary using an M.2 expansion card or external M.2 caddy but if you have a dedicated M.2 slot on your motherboard then Im really not sure what youre waiting for. Take the plunge, you wont regret it.

> 3 dayThe Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD is a worthy upgrade for those struggling with their smaller stock m.2 drives. Prices on these larger M.2 drives are starting to come down, certainly not as fast as the 2.5 ssds, but if your only viable option is replacing the m.2 this one is a great candidate. This crucial uses a 2280 form factor which is pretty standard on most laptops. Measuring in at 22m wide and 80mm in length with a pci express 3.0 x4 interface. This newer generation of m.2 features a Silicon Motion controller for the QLC Nand Flash instead of SLC or MLC. The QLC stores four bits per flash which is slower then SLC and MLC, especially for write performance but given the capacity and price it is a relatively minor sacrifice. I did not get a chance to utilize Acronis software since i usually clean install new drives. Having used Acronis in previous applications, it should clone the original rather efficiently assuming you have an extra m.2 slot available. If you do not you will probably need to purchase an external m.2 enclosure. Crucial warranty for this drive is for 5 years, which is very generous. 5 stars.
