> 3 dayI initially balked at paying $20+ for a pair of socks, but when I eventually did, I was sold. This is my 6th pair, and not because the others wore out, because I havent worn a pair out, yet. They are very comfortable as work socks or hiking socks. Warm in the winter, and sweat wicking in the summer, they are year-round socks. Honestly, theyre the only socks I wear now.

Greater than one weekI wear this style of Darn Tough sox year round. Decent medium weight cushioning. These sox dry quickly. Pattern looks like a rocket propelled outhouse?

Greater than one weekUpon putting these on, I immediately noticed that the instep (where the tongue on a shoe lays) was very bunchy and caused mild annoyance in the flexing of it. I didn’t even want to attempt to try with a shoe for fear of exacerbating the issue even further. Compared to a recent pair of Smartwool hiking socks that laid better and looked far more colorful, I’m afraid I had to return these as the last thing I need hiking across a landscape is discomfort in the most flexible part of my foot. Nothing wrong with the quality of the craftsmanship, just the uncharacteristic flex is not for my slim foot and looks a little bland as the best part of the colors are buried further up and down at the bottom of the sock.

We live and work in Northfield, Vermont. Our backyard is the perfect testing ground to make the finest Premium All Weather Performance Socks. We ski, snowboard, hike, bike and run in the most unforgiving climate in the lower 48. It is under these conditions that we design, test and manufacture our socks.

After so many decades why do we still knit every pair of our socks here in Vermont? We don’t do it because it’s the easy thing to do—we do it because it’s the right thing to do. We do it because for us, it’s the only way to do it. There are faster and cheaper alternatives but nobody ever outsourced anything for quality.
