I ordered this laptop in June for a new job I started. I was to be working hybrid, home on Tues/Thurs and in the Office MWF. My old laptop was a janky Lenovo from college that just needed to go, so I did some digging and found this laptop. The reviews were solid, and the price wasnt steep at all so I went for the purchase. Worst. Mistake. Ever. When I say this laptop is slow, this laptop is SLOW. Ive done every update possible, checked for out of date drivers and updated the ones that needed updating. Ive installed software for security, and mostly use this laptop for work and my own personal work, so nothing dodgy is ever downloaded onto my laptop. It takes about 5-7 minutes for the initial log-in to load, another 7-10 minutes for the laptop to wake up and what feels like 20 years to load apps, such as Chrome or what have you. Even while typing this review, the lag is just ridiculous. The cursor is currently stuck on the word even........ and its still stuck there. Just slow slow slow all around since day one of getting this laptop. Now heres the kicker... this week and next Im working from home again, and I decided to check with Dells website to see if there are any additional driver updates I can find. Now according to the Amazon listing for this laptop, this is a Dell Inspiron 3583. I went to the Dell support website and did a search for the Inspiron 3583, but the website said that this search didnt yield anything. I went to my Amazon orders to make sure I had the correct model, but again the search didnt bring anything up. SO, I put my laptop onto its monitor to look at the model number that comes on the laptop.......... the laptop I received is AN INSPIRON 3502!?!? Can you say false advertising?????? Ill definitely be filing a complaint with Amazon. Do yourself a favor, and just skip onto the next laptop if you were considering purchasing this one. Ive seen other reviews mentioning just how slow this laptop is, and they are absolutely correct. If you have a 5hr work day, youll be waiting 7hr just to get this thing slightly up and running. Definitely not a recommended product.

First thing to know is that this is a 2020 model and Dell warranties are expired. I ordered this product twice. The first time, I received an Inspiron 3510, which had a slower processor and only one ram slot. Second order, the correct model was delivered, but product details indicate this PC has BOTH a 128 GB SSD and a 500 GB HDD. It has only the 128 GB SSD. Sellers response was that this was a typo despite it being in several places on this listing (and this model PC CAN have both). They offered a $10 credit, which is laughable considering its missing an $80 part. Its being returned and Im done here. Note: the listing has since been modified to take out a few of the references to a 500 GB HDD (I believe this was done at my own request during a customer service call--seller did not seem to care) but it still appears there at least once as of 9/20/22.

Got this just for my zoom meetings. The screen is cheap and blurry, but this stays put at my webcam table so I dont hv to move my better computer.

I like this laptop, but for what ever reason if youre not looking pretty much straight down at the key pads, its difficult to seethe letters. Second, it wont recognize my external speakers, which is a real bummer because I love music. Overall its a good laptop it should serve me well for many years.

The Dell model 3583 is specified (Dell Specs p.12) with an 8th generation Intel core i3, i5, or i7 CPU. I suspect due to the chip shortage Dell was forced to dive into the ol parts bin and ship this particular 3583 with an older - and MUCH lower specs - Pentium Gold 5th generation CPU with limited cache. To try to compensate, Dell also shipped this unit with a M.2 SSD rather than the specd spinning HDD. That was very good of them. But the mis-match seems to be creating some lag in getting things done, although not critical. I may (probably) be wrong about this, but then Im not a computer whiz. It would be great if Dell eventually tracked this order and in future shipped us a comparable Core i3 CPU with a realistic cache. Hey, I can dream! In addition - 3583 comes specd with Win 10 Home (not S mode). S mode sucks and the time it takes to dump it is a pain. 2cts.
