Dominion: Nocturne Board Games, 144 months to 9600 months

This game clocks in at about the same time as other expansions and is easily shorter than a Prosperity alone game. Noe of the new mechanics slow the game down any. All of my 2 player games and all but 1 of my 3 player games clock in closer to 30 minutes than to 60 minutes.

This newest expansion for Dominion adds a new night phase with some of the cards, as well as boons (good effects), Hexes (negative effects) and heirlooms (replacing coppers with better currency cards). After playing a couple of games, I look forward to playing it more, and mixing it with other expansions.

Dominion Nocturne is an outstanding addition to the Dominion game family. The inclusion of a new Night phase and of Boon and Hex cards adds an all new level to the game. Highly recommended.

This expansion adds many new features to the game. It takes a little getting used to and more space than normal to play, but it adds a lot of variety to the game, which is my favorite part about Dominion in general.

Im really pleased with this expansion, which introduces a lot of new elements to the game, all of which are fun. The heirlooms, for example, can replace starting coppers, and the hexes and boons are like randomized attacks or bonuses. Im particularly happy with a couple of cards that potentially give additional actions but dont lead to endless chains of cards.

If your a long time fan of dominion, why haven’t you bought this yet? If your new to the game. Please don’t buy this. It is very complex and it cannot be played without the base game. Save this one for later.

I am so glad I live in a timeline where Dominion exists. I have had people I teach play the game that would typically ask. Is it like Magic (the gathering)? I have to explain to them simply that no not at all really, but its a great game to play with 3-4 players and I can teach you in 10 minutes. Setup a basic spread and every single one of them were hooked. This game is most enjoyable is you have ONE person in your friends/family that truly understands the nuance of the game and can keep the spreads and gameplay interesting while paying attention to the rules with undivided attention. This expansion delivers some engaging new mechanics and nuance. Im still exploring all the possibilities. To all the Dominion heads out there. thumbs up.

I have loved every Dominion Expansion. I should possibly give this expansion 5 stars.. but am holding back because even though I enjoy playing this expansion it is a bit more complicated and I am not a fan of having a lot of card piles in addition the ten standard action card piles.
