I agree with some of the other reviewers here as far as the cheap drill bit and screws provided. I purchased mine just before Christmas 2019. I ended up CAREFULLY using the drill bit but I can see how it might snap. I installed the door jam plate with #10 3 Spax screws -- see pics. The heads protruded out as far as the set screw head, so if your door closes with the set screw it should close with the #10 Spax screws. You could probably use a slightly smaller screw but thats what I had handy, and they have a great reputation for holding. I also used the same screws to replace some of the preexisting short 1 screws in the door jam. I never did use the cheap zinc screws provided with the Door Bull over fear of stripping or snapping, plus I desired a beefier screw. Im pretty happy with the product otherwise.

For as much as you pay you would think they would include decent screws not chinese made screws. My one screw completed striped halfway screwed in and after geting the others in I now cant get them out to cut off or remove the stripped screw. Other than that it seems like it will work well. I probably would have given it 5 stars but I now have to go the the store and get something to remove the stripped screw and I cant shut my door. Yes I drilled the holes completely the length of the screw so that is not the problem. It was easy to install but I gave it one.

The Door Bulls innovative design, robust construction and highly secure installation method inspire plenty of confidence. Considering the massive reinforcement it provides, it even looks fine when in use. Its also very quick and easy to remove in the event of an emergency evacuation. Other reviewers have raised questions about installation-hardware quality. We bought two Door Bulls at the same time, and found the included drill bit worked superbly; the first bit was still sharp after installing both units, and weve saved it and the unused second bit for further use. We did have issues with stripping heads on the long phillips screws, however, using two different manual screwdrivers. Applying WD-40 to the threads before installation helped somewhat. Its also possible that using a cordless screwdriver, which might reduce wobbling while more quickly driving in these very long screws, would prevent gouging up the head slots. Im not sure screw quality is actually the issue here; the last inch just takes a lot of torque. That said, were extremely pleased with this product, and highly recommend it for personal security on all exterior doors when at home, for rendering secondary entrances impassable when away from home, and possibly as an added layer of security on an interior door for a bedroom or other safe room.

The Door Bull was fairly easy to install. The trickiest part is lining up the frame plate to protrude just far enough to slip the lock over. After you drill the first hole and position it make sure to close the door and test if the lock slips snuggly on the frame plate before you drill all 3 holes. You dont want it too loose and my first attempt I had it too far in so i could not even slip the lock on at all. The screws were high quality stainless steel. Had to apply a fair amount of force putting a couple screws in but the heads did not strip which is a sign of a quality screw. Three extra 3 screws are provided so you can fortify each of the three door hinges mounted in the frame with one longer screw. I was amazed to find the standard hinge screws are only about 1 long! My molding protrudes a bit so my lock is at a slight slant to the door but it is snug and slips in snugly. I dont plan on trying to kick my door and test this so I cannot verify how well it works but the concept is sound and if anything it may discourage an intruder or slow them down enough so you can arm yourself.

I actually got this for my toddler who likes to run outside when Im not near the door. After running through the neighborhood half-dressed in a towel dripping wet from a partial shower a time or two I figured it was time to find something that could stop him. It works amazing and the peace of mind it brings knowing no ones getting in either is great! We have installed it in two different homes now and have not had a single problem with it at all!

As almost everyone else has said, the product is well done and works well. The included screws stripped out almost immediately. Do yourself a favor and go buy three, 3-inch stainless steel screws at the hardware store and use them instead. Four stars because I think for the price they should include better screws.

PROS: - Installation relatively simple, under the right conditions. - Extremely non-invasive option. Sleek / smart design. - Very good option for doors with limited space. - Should provide occupants with more time to protect themselves. - May deter the vast majority of intruders due to increased time and effort needed to gain entry. - The hanger is a good idea and helps to keep the device available at all times. - Installation can lead to awareness of other potential weak spots (that would otherwise go unnoticed) CONS: - The price point is slightly high. Worth the investment, but may deter some from purchasing. - Screws provided strip far too easily. Do not use them. - Dependent on integrity of door installation. - Calculating installation depth of base can be tricky. - Can require a higher than average aptitude for construction. - Only works for in-swinging doors. This is not a big deal, but is important to know. - The makers of this device need to have more videos available showing the capabilities of their product. Many other devices have videos from various sources testing them. This one does not. The lack of sponsored and independent test videos almost prevented me from purchasing the device. RECOMMENDATIONS: - If you have an older home, or are not handy (in terms of construction) get an experienced person (friend, family member, trusted handyman) to install it for you. - Use star-head screws purchased from hardware store (or Amazon!). This is an absolute MUST! - You will need a relatively powerful drill. - Watch YouTube videos and install 3 - 4 screws into hinge-side of door as well. Use caution, this can alter the doors ability to close properly. MY EXPERIENCE: Thankfully, I have some experience in home improvement and construction. I installed The Door Bull on two of my entry doors. The front door went relatively smoothly. I did notice, that if you have the means and desire that a person could install more than one of these to a door, potentially increasing the effectiveness. When I went to install it to my metal garage side entry door (a door I thought was the most secure in my home), I found that it was improperly installed and very vulnerable to blunt force. I had to remove the trim and place additional wood in the gap between the door frame and the wall stud. I then had to use 4 screws to ensure a solid connection from the frame to the stud. This is not a knock on the Door Bull. In fact, I was able to correct the problem because of the Door Bull. Now, that door is very secure. This device will not prevent entry into your home. It may effectively slow entry and/or deter entry. I have recommended it to my family members and friends.

This secures my master bedroom door. It’s easy to install and easy to use. I replaced the short screws in my door hinges with the longer screws included with the Bull. The Bull is well made and strong, and it is a backup to my locks, lights, and cameras. The one improvement I would recommend is for the channel to V-out wider at the bottom to guide the bull onto the flange make it even easier to move between the door and the storage and back. I have several styles of door barricade and this is the one I use to protect me and my my wife while we sleep. The Bull is good value for the price. I highly recommend it.

Once I installed this device, along with several superior long screws, I find that with my normal deadbolt and this device, that it would take a pretty strong assault to gain entry. I feel confident that a simple 200 pound kick will not gain entry. Ive had to kick doors in, and usually the side molding and small screws into the 2 X 4 framing is what gives way. This clearly distributes the weight in a much wider (leverage) manner will require a much more vigorous assault to gain entry. A little pricey in my opinion but is far superior to another deadbolt or comparative assembly.

I bought this late last year and only recently got around to opening the box and installing it only to realize that the bracket you put the plate on when not in use is missing. Its been too long to return so Im reaching out to the seller to see if they will do anything to help me out. As for the install, I found that I couldnt close the door with the set screw in place so I had to do my adjustment with the door open but it came out alright. I didnt find the mounting hardware overly cheap but I suggest using a hand tool to install the screws (after drilling the holes) because they looked like they might strip out with a screw attachment on a drill. Ill update this review when I find out if the seller is willing to fix the missing part. Update - I reached out to the seller and a day later they contacted me and offered to send me the missing part. With that kind of service they earned more stars.
