> 3 dayIf you need something that can remove odor and moisture from shoes go no further. I had some really bad smelling dude shoes and let me tell you they smelled bad! So I put half of the bag in one shoe and the other half in the other shoe. I left it in the shoes for about 3 days and all of the odor is gone but Im going to leave it longer to make sure all of the moisture is gone too. Also I stuffed the top of the shoe with plastic to keep the outside moisture from affecting the packets.

> 3 dayI bought them to help me keep my gamer headset dry since they build up moisture over time. They seem to be doing a good job so far

Greater than one weekI pack a couple of these along with each of my 1 lb. bags of home made beef jerky. I store them in the refrigerator. It takes me more than two weeks to go through a bag, otherwise the bag can wait two or three weeks before opening. Repeated opening introduces humidity to the bag. Dry & Dry helps to keep the jerky dry and fresh. A good product.

06-06-2025Everyone has at one time or another seen the little packets that have the words “Do Not Eat” printed on them. They are typically the size of a sugar packet and included in plastic bags or boxes that house delicate electronic gear and the like. The purpose of these packets is to absorb moisture from the air surrounding the packaged device and to improve its survivability while awaiting sale and transport. These packets are called “desiccant packets” and contain silica gel as tiny, clear beads. They’re considered by many to be a single use item and thrown away once removed from the shipping packaging. Well, even after absorbing moisture the silica gel beads in the packets can be ‘recharged’ buy using a low heat soak and then used again. But who bothers to keep them and what other possible use could the packets have? I have a use, multiplied, and of course never saved my *free* desiccant packs! The process of using a special pigmented powder to coat metal parts rather than the traditional liquid paint is something I’m doing now and the nature of this powder requires that it stays very dry. As received the powder paint flows extremely well because it’s packaged dry and every time a container of powder is opened there is atmospheric moisture ready to sneak in and cause clumping. My purpose for buying these silica gel packs is to place one or two in each container of powder and preserve that ‘factory fresh’ flowing quality that’s needed for smooth and consistent application of this special material. The use of the packets is preventative, not generally a fix for an already deteriorated situation but I do have one case where I may be able to see a desiccant pack (X2) at work. One ‘economy’ powder coating is slightly clumpy and I’m assuming it’s due to excess moisture. I placed two 2gm packets in that container immediately after receiving my desiccant shipment. If the powder container is sealed securely I’m expecting an improvement in the flow and consistency of that powder. Using these desiccant packets can only help, and that’s my expectation.

> 3 daySilica packets 2g food grade, 2x2 squares. Used inside bags & containers of gel pac dishwasher soap, laundry soap, they dont stick together anymore, soap contents powders & liquids dont spill from tearing them apart. Put in sugar, brown sugar, spices, salt, peppercorns absorb moisture and prevent caking. No more rice bits mixed w salt & other, can now pour instead of just small hole shaker top w silica packet doesnt fall out. 1st time user, like so much ordering small .5g packets for salt, pepper, spice shakers & grinders.
