Don’t buy any Dyson products. I spent several thousand dollars on Dyson. They refused me using warranty just because of lack of serial number. And the product failed within only 8 months!
> 24 hourNo Dyson products anymore!

> 24 hourThis is my first Dyson and now I know why everyone is crazy about these vacuum cleaners! This thing is AWESOME! This is my first cordless vacuum cleaner as well and I find it just amazing how easy it is to vacuum clean with this machine. It has excellent sucking power and it is easy to maneuver. Our granddaughter is needing a vacuum cleaner this fall for when she goes to college. She is NOT getting this one! I am keeping it! (I will be ordering her this model before she heads out to college)! I would highly recommend this vacuum to anyone!

> 24 hourIve always preferred canister vacuums, because the wand and hose are much easier to move and maneuver, but it can be a pretty big pain to drain around the canister. The Dyson V8 solves that, because its basically just the wand portion of my canister vacuum without a cord or bulky canister unit. Along with the vacuum, you get several accessories: a wall-mounted dock, a crevice tool, a brush tool, an upholstery tool, and the powered floor attachment. The dock has two slots to store the crevice and brush tools, but theres no obvious place to store the upholstery attachment. The wall dock has a cable channel and clip to hold the included charging cable, so that you can just slot the vacuum into the mount for storage and charging. Unfortunately though, the cable isnt easily removable after you attach the dock to your wall, because the cable channel is on the backside of the dock. If you decide not to use the dock, then you can still recharge the vacuum by just plugging in the charging cable. Theres a switch to toggle between normal and high power mode and a momentary trigger switch to turn on the vacuum. The trigger does need to be held down to keep powering the vacuum, but fortunately, it doesnt take much strength to depress the trigger button. The V8 does not have a trigger lock, but a quick search on Amazon shows that there are a lot of third party options to add a lock if you want it. The V8 battery is rated for 40 minutes at normal power, but that drops to 25-35 minutes if youre using the powered floor attachment. In our usage, we found those numbers to be pretty accurate. Thats just enough runtime to vacuum the hardwood floors in our 3-bedroom house. If you turn on the high power mode, the runtime drops to just a few minutes. Unfortunately, the recharge time is 5 hours. You can buy an extra battery, but you wont be able to charge it in the wall dock, so youll also have to get an extra charging cord. Swapping batteries on the V8 also requires a screwdriver to release the battery. The V8 is a really nice vacuum overall, but the limited battery life makes it best to use with smaller spaces or as a secondary vacuum for cleaning up messes.

> 24 hourI purchased this product directly from dyson website. I always loved dyson and wanted to give it try the cordless one. The 40 min is on low, if you use it on high the vacuum time around 30 min. It of course started dropping the time. After 1 year it would only work 20 ish min after being fully charged. Now i can only use it for 5 mins.. its disappointing because dyson is a great brand and the parts and all not cheap to replace every time you get an issue with the product. Would not recommend a cordless one. I also have canister and also have upright. Used the upright for years and years with no issue. Go with one that has a cord, i advice. I always done the proper cleaning, and cleaned the filter in a timely manner. These are expensive vacuum cleaners and hard to replace them everytime it gives an issue. I would not buy a cordless dyson again.

> 24 hourI’ve been using an older model of this vacuum for years and love the impressive suction power and working without being tethered to a power cord. My only issue is the brief runtime on the maximum power setting and comparing my old model with this new one that remains unchanged. Note--runtime is affected by a variety of issues beyond speed for example flooring type, level of debris, attachment used, etc. so it is difficult to provide an accurate time that would apply to all. There are improvements to this model which include some of the tools along with the system for emptying the dust bin. Overall the unit is excellent and just like the older version the only improvement would be runtime. Using the Motorbar cleaning (floor) attachment the operating time is approximately 10 minutes at max power and approximately 20 minutes at the regular setting and this applies to both my old unit and this new model. With other battery powered tools often additional batteries can be charged to easily swap out when one is depleted but that is not easy to accomplish with the current design of this vacuum because the battery is screwed to the motor unit and the entire piece is placed in the charger. In summary my issue is I like the vacuum so much I wish I could use it longer. The regular setting has strong suction so best use it whenever possible. The vacuum works well on hard flooring, carpeting, stairs, etc. and for quick jobs the vacuum cleaner is quick and efficient.

> 24 hourI was surprised about how small this is. Its very thin, but Im amazed and how good the suction is. It leaves vacuum tracks!! I love vacuum tracks. Its very easy to push around. The main vacuum head has a ball joint where it connects, so its super easy to turn and move around. This kind of tripped me up because it doesnt feel like it should be dragging along the floor, but if its not against the floor, it doesnt really suction. It just looks a little weird because of the join proportions between the two parts, but it still works good. Its decently easy to put together, but it has A LOT of parts/accessories. Also, the instructions are really poor. Theres no words, so it would have been nice to have a little bit more detail, but I did figure it out. When the instructions say click it really does click. The parts snap together super easily, and theyre easy to take apart. One unfortunate thing is that it cannot stand up on its own. In order for it to stand up, the instructions say to install the wall holder, which requires drilling holes into the wall (which I cannot do in an apartment, so kind of stinky). I end up just laying it against a corner, which works, but its kind of annoying. It would have been nice if it could stand on its own. Overall, its a pretty nice vacuum. Its very small, but its still incredibly powerful. Very easy to move around. I recommend!!
