El Angel

Love to give a shot for an Indie movie to impress me and this one did the trick. Great acting by a great-looking young actor and a plot that seems too twisted to be real, but it is. The true story behind this movie is equally intriguing albeit not nearly as much fun.

Good movie. The story and acting were both solid. It is in Spanish, so if you dont speak Spanish or like reading subtitles, then this isnt the movie for you.

I missed the part about this movie having subtitles.

There are lots of things to love about this movie: The two leads are perfect and play their roles with just the right amount of restraint, without giving away too much. The main character, Carlos, is a mystery even to himself, a psychopath who finds it impossible to explain his actions. The script intentionally leaves out the kinds of explanations that might help the audience understand why he does what he does, which is right for this movie. The nature of his relationship with his accomplice is equally mysterious. They are attracted to each other, but for Carlos, having a straightforward kind of relationship is not at all what hes after. Whatever it is he wants, he knows its impossible to actually have it, which is partly why he does such inexplicable things. The movie doesnt wallow in the violence, focusing instead on the character development. They did a great job recreating another era (Buenos Aires in the 70s, I think). All in all a perfect brew.

I loved everything about this film! Twice, so far! Great story and Lorenzo Ferro is a actor to keep an eye on! Fun to watch and a musical score that adds to every scene!
