Greater than one weekI bought this because of the advertised color brightness and... WOW! They werent kidding. Leaves DLP in the dust. Dust that is very muted in tone with no color richness to speak of. DLP is fine for your Powerpoint presentation, but if you want to watch a movie in your home theater, you want something more like this. Because there are three different image elements in this projector creating three different images, you only get perfect convergence at one distance from the lens. I had this projecting onto a wall in my garage (dont know exactly how big the image was, but it was over 10 feet wide) and the color separation was about 1/4 at worst. I didnt notice this issue unless I was being picky and looking for it.

> 3 dayBest projector for the price right now. I like it better than the BenQ I recently owned (1075) in 9 out of 10 scenarios (brightness, latency/gaming, frame interpolation, lamp cost, menu options, contrast, no rainbow effect, cost, image enhancement, lamp life). The only thing it doesnt appear to do quite as well is black levels. But I doubt most people would be able to pick out the difference. And theyll definitely notice the speed, brightness, and frame interpolation if they watch sports, or dont have a dark room. And the fact that they were the first to move many high end features from much more expensive projectors down into this price range is commendable. If this had a motorized lens, with lens memory, I could sell dozens of these to folks looking to replace their aging home theater projectors. Epson did a really nice job with this one.

> 3 dayThis projector is ok. Its not the best, but its not the worst either. For a sub $1000 projector it is pretty good. Why only 3 stars? The projector has a manual lens cover for starters. If youre mounting this higher up, youll need a stool to reach for it every time. A slight annoyance, not a huge deal breaker though. The particular unit I received had very severe color separation from the lcds not being matted together perfectly. I ran all sorts of tests as you can see in the photos. I believe this is outside what can be considered tolerable. Maybe it was a manufacturing defect, but I was disappointed. I am very sensitive to it, which is also why I opted for the LCD vs DLP projectors. The unit is bright, but that also comes with a sacrifice... noise. When you have it set to bright, its LOUD! On the other brightness settings the fans really quiet down and I found it to be bright enough even during the day time. Ive had a PLV-Z4 for 8 years and its been a great projector. Ill be looking at upping my price and testing out the 5030 soon. Overall, this is a decent little guy, but I found too many cons to outweigh the pros for my particular set up.

> 3 dayI want to give it 4.5 stars and it deserves it. I have had a couple glitches, cant seem to hook a sound bar up to it for one and it has just stopped on me a few times. I have it on a 4X7 screen and Im glad I have it. I researched projectors for 3 weeks, reading everything I could get my eyes on, visiting home theater stores, talking to people with projectors and I ended up with this. It was between this and the BenQ and the price and durability of bulbs pushed me in this direction. Im pleased.

> 3 dayAbsolutely wonderful projector! I bought this for my basement cinema. Pros: - Super clear picture for Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and the TV receiver box for antenna stations. - Fan is relatively quiet. I sit right below it and dont notice it when watching a show - Vivid and true colors - Easy to mount to ceiling when you buy a universal mount - Very easy to set up - Looks great even when projecting directly onto a wall. I havent put our screen up yet, and just have it aimed at a muted green wall. - Great picture even with lights on. Our basement has two lighting areas. I usually watch it with the back area lit and the picture is still very bright and clear. Cons: - I bought a Harmony 350 universal remote. It can turn the projector on, but it cant shut it off for some reason.

> 3 dayI have spent much more on projectors, but this is my favorite so far. The picture quality in a light controlled room is excellent, and the picture quality in a room with moderate ambient light is fine. I love that replacement bulbs are easily acquired for under $100. My past projectors required builds over $300. At the price of bulbs for this projectors, its easy to update when the picture dims, rather than dealing with a faded picture and waiting for the bulb to pop. I was looking for a budget projector. I wanted a good movie watching experience. I have all that and more and I am well pleased. There are projectors in this price range with better contrast ratio. Contrast ratio is important. I may well like those projectors better if I tried one. I chose this one because of the cost replacement bulbs. I was not concerned with having the best and newest. That can get expensive. I wanted a great movie watching experience for an affordable price.

> 3 dayI have been using projectors for my home cinema for 16 years on a white wall. People have always been impressed by the size of the picture, but didnt comment much about the quality. This projector has a picture quality that is so bright and detailed that nobody believes its coming from a projector. This is an amazing projector for this price. I have a 110in picture at 13ft away hung from a ceiling mount. If your on a budget like I am, you cant go wrong with this projector. The bulb that comes with this projector is impossible to find. Replacements range in price from $25 to just over $100 and could not fine the exact same one it came with, makes it impossible to duplicate after the bulb goes out. So enjoy it out of the box because youll never repeat it as Epson does not sell a original replacement.

> 3 day********** This is my first review. Wants to be helpful. No one paid me for this review *********** Great customer service – Amazon ============================== Purchased Epson 2040 from Amazon on Prime day sale for $499. Used for 35 days. Noticed focus issue on 35 th day. Yes its too late. Amazons return policy is 30 days. Called amazon customer service and explained the problem. Customer service person was very helpful and gave me options of refund or replacement. I chosen replacement option as its best deal for such a wonderful projector. Amazon shipped new projector with two day shipping for same price even though I am not a prime member now. Great customer service amazon About Epson 2040 ================= I was using LG PA75U 720P LED projector for past 4 years which stopped working recently. I was in the search of new projector. Based on my need and hours of research, I short listed two projectors - Epson 2040 and Benq HT2050. I was able to compare both projectors side by side during day & night and with lights on/off. Though Benq HT2050 had slightly higher rating both from users and professional reviewers, I decided to go with Epson 2040 for below reasons Lower price (Epson - $499 vs Benq - $650 ) during my search for projectors Brighter and sharper image Watchable even during daytime with windows open Image is too bright (even in ECO mode) during nighttime even with lights on Longer lamp life (7500 hours in ECO mode) Cheaper lamp replacement cost ( $70 to $90 ) Portable and light weight Convenient lens cover Lower fan noise 2 year warranty I would recommend Epson 2040 if your requirements are like mine Wants to have 100 inch or larger HDTV Wants to have brighter and best picture Wants to use projector in living room Wants to use projector with lights on Wants to use projector during daytime or night time Wants to use projector as HDTV Wants to use projector 4 or more hours every day Does not want to spend half of the projector cost to replace its lamp

Greater than one weekSo this is my first projector and I am sold. I probably read hundreds of reviews on different Epson projectors and I eventually chose this one for price and capabilities. I had a 60inch Vizio E series tv before this and I was very to go bigger without buying a bigger tv. I havent noticed any difference in quality when comparing the projector to my tv which is great. I will admit though that my tv in my bedroom which is a M series has more clarity than the projector. That being said, I know there are projectors that have better quality but I had a budget which was under 1k and I haven not been disappointed at all with this projector! If you want your 1080HD experience then this projector is the way to go. It also does really well for lights being on. I have windows and a lot of natural light that gets into my den and this projector holds up well in lighting, even in Eco mode. If you want super crisp and clean then clearly a more expensive projector like the 3000 series is the way to go. I do intend to one day upgrade to the top notch kind of projector, but for now this one is perfectly fine when considering I now have virtually a 150 tv for only a hundred dollars more than my 60. I took two pictures. One is the Apple tv screen which shows the great clarity and the other is of a movie I was watching. The quality was based on my actual internet which isnt the best, but when it is streaming well the quality is great!
