> 3 dayThe filters themselves are great. However, these filters were packaged and shipped in the same box as a 40 lb bag of cat litter and the filters were mangled. Seems like common sense to me that these two products would not be thrown into the same box for shipping.

> 3 daythis filter is sprayed with some kind of flaking covering. after a few purchases, i felt like it was flaking into my air and ductwork. i thought it was just a grey fabric but it’s not. it has a sprayed on coating that flakes off. i felt like i was having trouble breathing so changed and i feel better.

> 3 dayDoes not do what it says it is meant to do. I did not notice a reduction in allergy reactions, nor was there any noticeable difference in house odors.

> 3 dayI have been using filtrete filters for some time, I generally buy them locally but thought I would give Amazon a chance. Upon browsing I found these odor eliminating filters, so I bought them without question, I even added them to subscribe and save. I was able to use them for one day. Well, not even a full day.. They did NOT allow enough airflow through my system and my air conditioner froze up. Luckily I caught it before my system ran that way for days. I would exercise caution using these filters. If they restrict enough flow they will cause you significant issues down the road. If they do not cause mechanical issues, I could see where they would increase your central air’s operating costs. I will attempt to get my money back for these so I can get filters that actually work.

Greater than one weekI ordered the two pack of the 20x20x1 Filtrete Allergen Defense Odor Reduction Filters. The odor eating air cleaning action of charcoal is magic, and its natural and healthy! When I saw Filtrete went and added it to their HVAC filters and realized they are very close in price to the same filters without it, I knew this was for me. I really notice these working when Im cooking. If the heat or AC (or even just the fan) is running, those cooking odors dont linger around. I imagine these would be excellent for any home that is smoked in, or has been in the past. In addition to the charcoal odor control, these filters provide allergen reduction with a 1200 micro-particle performance rating. Since I began using these filters I have noticed a reduction in my allergy symptoms. I have since stopped taking allergy pills daily and only take them a couple times a week now. I hope these last for 3 months each. This is really dependent on your home, how much dust you have, and how often you are running your heat or AC, etc. Note that doing things such as smoking, burning incense or candles, using your fireplace or doing construction or remodeling will reduce the lifetime of the filter and require it to be replaced more often. At $32 for two, a $64 annual expense to keep your home clean and odor free, as well as to keep your furnace running smoothly and avoid costly repair fees is definitely a good deal. You do not want your furnace intake to be restricted by a dirty filter. FYI on filter replacement: I suggest that in a new home, you check your furnace filter monthly. After time you can extend the time between filter checks to two months, and if they are still looking pretty good, move up to 3 months. (you should replace it at 3 months, set a reminder on your phone) At the VERY LEAST, you need to replace your filter in Spring and again in the Fall. This is easy to remember, if you are changing from AC to heat, change the filter. If you are changing from heat to AC, change your filter. Installation: Furnace filter installation depends on your furnace, but has been a very easy process on every furnace I have ever had in my lifetime. In most cases you simply slide open a door, pull out the old filter and stick the new one in. It is important to note the air flow direction of the filter and furnace when installing and make sure you have the filter facing the correct direction. Note that there is an arrow printed on the filter showing the correct air flow direction.
