We use our fire pit often for recreation and to burn brush. Before getting this poker we manipulated the fire with sticks which caught fire or were left smoldering when we were done. This is a sturdy and non-flammable way to move wood in a fire. The point and the hook make it easy to move even flaming wood to create a hotter and more even burning fire or to stir the fire before extinguishing.

I have the 40 and its MUCH better than most of the other fire pokers Ive had. This is a solid 1 piece construction with thicker material than anything else Ive owned, which has always come in a set or with a fire pit. The length is great too, I have an indoor wood boiler with a firebox 38 deep, and this lets me reach all the way inside without scorching my hands! The wide handle gives you a lot of grip for shoving or pulling logs around too which is nice. Ill probably use this outside as well spring-fall with our outdoor fire pit, it expect it will last for decades.
