> 3 dayThese are great little carabiners for whatever your purpose. Got them originally to hold this movie screen up easily on my rain gutters for outdoor movie night but just used them in Monterey on my bicycle to clip my backpack on the rack. It does say to use for hammocks but I’m not sure about weight limit.

> 3 dayOkay, I admit that weeks ago, needing more ‘biners for coming winter hikes and photo shoots, I first bought the ‘bunch-for-few-bucks’ carabiners. After all, I wasn’t going to be counting on them while dangling from some rock face. What could possibly be wrong with such a simple device? Lots, I discovered, when 3 of the first 5 that I tested out of the bag of 10 could not be operated with one hand. That is, the bale was so out of alignment with the rest of the carabiner body that a second hand was required to match it up with the bale tip for closure. What a pain. The Gabbro’s, in contrast, have perfectly aligned bale and body, for simple one-handed use — even while wearing gloves. They’re light, but remarkably strong. In a word, reliable. In an age of technical sophistication that so often goes wrong, it’s a real pleasure to find gear that will not fail.

> 3 dayReceived the carabiners and was happy with them. They were lightweight and seemed to be of pretty good quality and sturdy. I didnt use the split rings with them, but as far as the carabiners, they spent time in saltwater. Theyve been in and out of saltwater multiple times, rinsing with freshwater afterwards, but always came out clean, no rust, and spring gate functioning perfectly. If they can survive that, then theyre pretty darn good!

Greater than one weekHad a wide enough clearance to grip what needed gripping. Sturdy hinge, should last a while.

22-11-2024These carabiners are 1/3 of the weight of the steel ones that came with out hammocks. However, with a nearly 200lbs person sitting in the hammock the wire gate came off the hook just a little. Meaning the carabiner had enough flex to widen the opening just slightly. The hammock was not at risk of the strap slipping out but I am concerned about the carabiner breaking or stretching over time. Thankfully that individual is not the one using the carabiners. Those of us that are using them all weigh under 140lbs. Guess I wont be using these in a double hammock though. I had no need for the key ring clips at this point, these were just the best deal with the colors I wanted.

> 3 dayI generally believe you get what you pay for, but these carabiners are something that I would still give high marks at a higher price. Great quality!
