    In the past Ive always used Oxy/acetylene to braze HVAC. Im converted! This surprised me at how good it is. This is much easier to use and considerably safer. The learning curve is very short. Watch YouTube. I used a plumbers air acetylene torch. Worked great. Im sold on Stay Brite 8. No downside, only up.

    Super expensive but works great. The unusual melting point really helps to seal big gaps. Rated to 10k psi so it will last forever on hvac lines set sweating. To seal big gaps just heat the coupling above melting point and apply the solder. Once you think enough of the joint has solder then remove the heat and keep pushing more solder in. Soon it will thicken and fill the gaps.

    Used this instead of brazing my ac lineset. With this, there’s no need for flowing nitrogen while soft soldering. Used on a 410a system and holds up to the higher pressures just fine.

    If you dont want to mess with oxy-acetylene on copper connections then this is the kit to have on hand. You can find all kinds of positive reviews and uses of this in HVAC connections as well as potable water because its lead free. No need to flow nitrogen because it can be used with Mapp gas. Very happy.

    I was skeptical that a solder could be strong enough to hold up to 300+psi of r410a, but heard good things so I gave it a try. Ive used it on several residential AC installs and it has been flawless, less leaks than brazing and wayyyy faster than brazing. You have to use Emory cloth and/or wire brush to clean the fitting very well and use less flux than you normally would with plumbing solder, just make sure to use flux on the male fitting at least. It has been a complete game changer. Instead of hauling around a heavy ass welding rig, I can just carry a 5 pound map gas torch and get it all done fast! I will be sticking with this if all proves leak free in the long term.

    I tested this product by connecting two six inch length of 3/4 copper pipe. Fluxed and soldered them in seconds. I then cut the connected pieces lengthwise to inspect the joint and look for oxidation. No oxidation occurred and the solder join was completely and uniformly filled. Ive used this product on several a/c connections with excellent results.

    I used the Stay-brite 8 to fix a leak on my mini-split system and my friends mini-split system too. The mini-splits were leaking where you release the R410a refrigerant from the pre-charged compressor (there are 2 set-screws you back out after you put the system together and vacuum it out). The system is supposed to seal itself with an o-ring in the set-screws that tighten up against a small shoulder. Both of our systems leaked and from what I can see around the internet it is not uncommon for this leak to happen on this type of valve after some time. We took out the set screw (had to remove the retaining ring first) and the removed the o-ring from the set screw. We cleaned out the set screw and fitting, fluxed up the fittings and screwed the set-screw back in about 1.5 turns. We soldered the set screw in place with the Stay-brite 8. Even though only 1 of the 2 set screws leaked, we took apart and soldered both since the system was without a charge. Both systems have been running perfect for about the last 2 months without any loss of charge. Perfect solution for an annoying problem.
