Greater than one weekMy gate has a of gap underneath, so the rod extended about 8 when closed. The first windstorm bent it almost 45 deg. Had to remount it lower, leaving just 1 above the ground. For support, I backed the bracket that extended below the gate with a substantial steel L-profile, and connected them together with several bolts. Look for a more substantial product if your gate is large or has any significant gap above the ground.

> 3 dayWorried it wouldnt work in the sandy area I tried to use these, I used metal stands meant for holding solar garden lights that were just large enough to use as guide placeholders for the rod in the down position and it works kind of great so far. Item is good and would suggest it if you want a sturdy ground point of pinning your gate closed or to inertia keep it open if not sink it to the ground to provide the same.

> 3 dayI started to drop some stars off of this for my frustrations with the Adjust-A-Gate kit. However, that would be unfair to this product. It was easy to install and long enough to reach the ground. I installed it in about 5 minutes using my cordless impact driver to drive in the two screws. The gate kit itself has been a blessing and a curse. It made putting the gate together easier, but has a host of issues especially if you hang a double gate like I did.

> 3 dayThe drop rod and the bracket are fine. The hardware is typical cheap steel that strips out at the first sign of torque. Replace the hardware with outdoor rated or preferably stainless and youll be much happier. Plus, it wont have rust marks on it after 2 months like mine did initially.
