> 3 dayI used it plugged into a outlet at least 45 from the panel and once I followed the actual directions it worked just fine.

17-11-2024It didnt work for me, but Ill give it two stars, as my breaker panel is old and may not be standard. I followed the directions, yet the device lit up on some of the wrong breakers and wouldnt light up on the right ones.

Greater than one weekWorked great for finding the breakers connected to various outlets on your own. Just follow the instructions. As others note, the power button its easy to accidentally push and drain the battery. I just pull the battery and store it in the original l packaging.

Greater than one weekI used my HTP-6 Circuit Detective for the first time yesterday. The instructions seemed simple; however, I went to the web site and watched a video demonstrating how to use it. I thought things were progressing well until I checked the circuits by closing the breakers involved. The HTP-6 was wrong as often as it was right. So, what is the point? Perhaps I have a defective unit. Still, now that I have done the legwork and identified all of the breakers associated with all of the outlets and fixtures in my home, does anyone want to buy a once-used HTP-6 Circuit Detective which may or may not get you electrocuted?

Speaking from direct experience
> 3 daythis is pretty basic device. Works only on receptacles that actually have a working path back to the circuit box. If you are trying to trace back a non working receptacle, this is not the answer. it will help you find (and turn off ) the breaker for the circuit you are working on. ... so it is good for that. Works only for plug in receptacles and light sockets that you can screw a socket to receptacle adapter into. (sold separately. ) I am assuming you could pigtail alligator test leads to an receptacle. plug this into the receptacle and attach the alligator clips to bare wiring, but they sell fox and hound circuit testers which do exactly that, so why go through the trouble.. Nice to have tool... but not exactly essential, unless you just need a low level tool. Not for electrical troubleshooting.

> 3 dayI simply have never found the correct breaker which powers the circuit the transmitter is plugged into. I did get a replacement from the manufacturer when I first complained, but it did not work either. It would appear from the reviews, it works on some breaker panels and not on others.

> 3 dayI live in an old home (1918) and really needed to map out the breaker to know where everything is. This product worked great and did what it said it would do. Recommend getting the light socket plug so you can track those too. Wont work with 220v outlets or light switches. Did a great job tracking every outlet to a breaker. Power button for the receiver is extremely sensitive so best to set it down when off. A tiny flick of a pinky will kick it on.

Greater than one weekI followed the instructions and it would beep on a circuit breaker but it was not the correct breaker. Not sure the reading can be totally trusted. Tried several times with same result.
