I simply have never found the correct breaker which powers the circuit the transmitter is plugged into. I did get a replacement from the manufacturer when I first complained, but it did not work either. It would appear from the reviews, it works on some breaker panels and not on others.

Works as advertised. Save a ton of money replacing the electrical sockets in the house we bought. FOLLOW the directions word for word and there will be no issues with its performance.

The only problem I had was when the battery is first installed it comes to the ON state. Turn it off by pressing and holding the the switch until the light goes out, then follow the directions. This worked perfectly. The more expensive models wont work either if you dont follow the directions.

This replaces lots of extension cords ending in a desk lamp next to the circuit box. It also relieves my wife from having to yell THANKS THE ONE.

I purchased this model circuit detective in Nov.05. I have yet to see it find a correct circuit after following the directions to the letter. I recently returned it to the company (Hi-Tech), asking for a replacment under the lifetime warranty only to have them return the same unit to me stating that there was nothing wrong with it. I guess I believed the hype about the different technology and it cost me $30+. My recommendation is to save your money and find a helper to hollar when the power goes off for a particular circuit as you flip the breakers in the basement.

Dont waste your money at times it wont say the other unit is plugged in any where in the house and other times it tells me its powered by 3 to 4 breakers very hard to get a good read

It didnt work for me, but Ill give it two stars, as my breaker panel is old and may not be standard. I followed the directions, yet the device lit up on some of the wrong breakers and wouldnt light up on the right ones.

I was a little hesitant to buy this based on one of the reviews. But, I had walked about ½ mile back and forth between the breaker panel and the other end of the house trying to identify outlets to breakers by myself. I figured that for $20 I would give it a try. It worked great! I put in a fresh 9V battery, plugged the transmitter into an outlet I wanted to identify, and walked to the breaker panel. I did the first pass calibration scan, followed by the identification scan, and bingo - breaker identified. There was no question which breaker it was. Not being too trusting, I tried it several more times moving the transmitter around the house - just to make sure it was really that simple and accurate - and it is! This is brain-dead easy to operate, and worked flawlessly for me. I should have bought it before I did my last re-model project; I would have saved several hours and a lot of walking.
