Greater than one weekTLDR: Only used a few times, quit working. Warranty not worth the paper its written on. Amazon return time is only 30 days -- if buying, consider buying elsewhere (Target and Walmart, for example, both allow 90 days on this item) just in case yours stops working as quickly as mine did. ---- Bought this fan in April, proud of myself for this year preparing ahead of time for the hot summer heat! Had read all the reviews -- fan comes highly recommended. And indeed it looked great out of the box. Set it out and tried it once or twice, just to make sure I knew how to operate it, then awaited the summer heat. Summer arrived a few weeks later. The first hot night I happily switched on my new Honeywell tower fan and drifted off to sleep to a gentle breeze. Unfortunately I woke up drenched in sweat, with a fan that was still oscillating but blowing no air at all. Thought surely I had misunderstood some setting, maybe had accidentally hit the sleep button that would tell it to shut off after a few hours or something (but unclear why it would still be oscillating if that were the case). Scoured the manual, double checked all the settings, couldnt find anything mysterious, so decided to try again the next night. Again...gentle breeze when i went to bed...by morning a rotating tower blowing no air. This time I felt the sides of the tower and realized they were very warm to the touch. After a few more attempts (this time during waking hours so I could monitor) the same thing happened -- shuts off after not much time, sides warm to touch... Seems like the motor must be overheating after a certain timeframe, at which point it shuts off and stops blowing air. Checked the return time on Amazon -- should have done that before I bought. Has anyone else noticed those return windows getting shorter and shorter??? Turns out the return window is only 30 days, and by this point I was past that (thatll teach me not to prepare ahead of time!) FYI, other retailers offer much longer than that -- Target and Walmart, for example, both offer 90 day returns (with the added benefit of being able to walk the item into a store to return it, not having to package it up for shipping) So I checked the warranty. Evidently in order to make use of the Honeywell 1-year warranty, I have to package the item up, ship it at my expense to El Paso, for some reason still send THEM a $10 check for shipping and handling, and hope that eventually itll show up back at my doorstep (probably long after the summer heat has subsided...but maybe thats just me being pessimistic). And yes, I tried calling the 800 number -- the one listed on Amazon is incorrect, but the way...the guy on the other end listened politely to my plight, and then told me the number I called wasnt the one I needed to call for this product, and hung up before I could ask him for the proper number. A search on the Honeywell site led me to another number, but after several lengthly attempts trying to get through all the various phone prompts, I still hadnt reached anyone who could help me with this issue. So...might be a good choice in fans, assuming yours actually works! But just on the off chance you experience the same issue I did, if you decide to go with this fan at the very least make note of the return policy and consider buying elsewhere.

> 3 dayPROS: +It has a sleep timer feature, while I haven’t used it it’s an option. +It oscillates and doesn’t bump anything. +It has like 8 different intensity/cool settings. +It has a “Refresh” setting, which is useful for growers and smokers. +The “White Noise” setting is useful for many applications. +It is relatively light weight so it’s easy to move when cleaning. +It doesn’t tip over easily.(Though I don’t have pets or children running around, so Good Luck.). +It is slender and fits into most spaces, so it’s great for limited space such as small apartments or lofts. +*It’s quiet enough that it doesn’t set off my gaming headset and it’s sat roughly 5ft away from me. +It does seem to actually help cool the air with its “Cool” & “Power Cool” settings. +It hasn’t started violently shaking. CONS: -It doesn’t have an adjustable height. Basically the only way to elevate it is to set it atop a stand or table. (Though like I mentioned it is relatively light in weight and it doesn’t shake, so a nightstand or small end table is a perfect fix if you have the availability.) -*It isn’t the quietest on some of its lower settings. (I’m hard of hearing and don’t mind noises when I sleep, but even I find it to be a little loud on the lower settings.) I felt the product was worth the money. It has some very simple to follow instructions for assembly. Though there are less than 10 pieces including the remote. worth it if you’re a gamer looking to stay cool, or even just to circulate air throughout an apartment. I would say it Is not durable enough to be used in a garage/shop/barn setting. Though I would buy again.

Greater than one weekI bought this after reading many good reviews of the unit. At first I was pretty happy with it, it was relatively quiet on higher settings but oddly more noisy at lower levels. If you live in a city where there is a constant hum this wont be a problem but in our quiet house the lower levels have an obvious electrical hum due to the speed control circuitry being cheap. After a year or so we started to notice a light grinding/clicking sound. After disassembling the unit to inspect what might be making the noise it was discovered that the sound was coming from the fan motor itself. After cleaning the inside of the unit and using some light oil to try to keep things running smooth I put it back together and decided to just live with it. Recently I bought another one of these and to my surprise the old one is moving about half or less of the air that the new one is. Yes, you might think well he took it apart so he just didnt put it back together correctly and I get that and cannot stop you from thinking that. On the other hand I know my way around fixing things and the fan worked exactly the same before taking it apart as after (just a bit cleaner and more lubed). What this says to me is that the fan motor and/or motor control circuitry on this unit is under-powered and is being worked too hard leading towards premature failure. A good fan should be able to last at least 5 years before any noticeable wear or failure IMO. At this point the fan puts out about as much air on high as the new one does at the white noise level. Pros: decent noise level even at higher speeds good range of speeds remote works well Cons short lifespan (1-2 years) developed clicking/grinding difficult to clean properly without taking the unit apart

Greater than one weekI purchased this fan as a replacement for the immediate previous version of the QuietSet tower fan, for my baby’s room (when purchased, he was just over a year). All-in-all, this is a good fan though not one to totally rave about. Some things to consider: I’ve owned a few QuietSet fans from Honeywell. They tend to last me, so I keep going back. Although I enjoy the white noise from a good fan, QuietSet fans are very quiet. In low modes, you can’t tell they are on by the sound. It also means, however, that these are not extremely powerful fans. Perfect for a home already air conditioned, looking for additional circulation or something to keep you cooler at night without jacking up the power bill — or, as I am currently using it, for your baby’s room. The original version had 5 modes instead of 8. Although I think the 5 modes pretty much covered the fan speeds you’d need, adding 3 more doesn’t hurt you any. What I absolutely didn’t like about this tower fan, was that the light from the fan used to automatically turn off after a handful of seconds. This version has a light like a beckon! It seriously lights up an entire room. There is a button on the fan to dim the light or turn it off completely. But (1) that makes the remote control useless because you eventually will get up to walk over to the fan to turn off the annoying light, and (2) it has 4 dimmer modes.... which makes no sense to me. On or off. Maybe, I’ll give you, the option for one dimmer selection, but four? It’s silly and unnecessary, causing you extra, precious sleeping seconds when you’ve dragged yourself out of bed to turn it off. The remote has Power, Speed and Oscillation on it. Everything you need... unless the fan has a light 3x stronger than the sun on it. Even if you’ve turned the fan light off previously, the next time you change the speed of the fan, the light goes right back on. This is especially annoying when I’m trying to be sneaky, adjusting the fan in my child’s room. The timer settings for the fan are 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 and 8. This is also handy while being completely annoying. 1 hour? Who ever just needs a fan on for one hour — that couldn’t just use it for 2 hours? My family and I live in California, where the days in summer can be 20-30 degrees warmer than the evenings. Dressing my little one for the temperature in our house when he goes to bed, and the temperature it’s going to be 5-6 hours later is an epic math equation, full-on nightly parental discussion and something of a game of luck. I dress him warm enough to deal with the cool down, and use the fan to cool him while it’s still hot. However, 4 hours doesn’t yet bring us into enough of the cooler night temperatures to want the fan off, and 8 hours is too far in that he wakes up because he is cold. A 6-hour timer would have been perfect, but apparently there is someone out there that benefits from having a one-hour slot. Who? Beats me. The construction of the fan is nice and not too top heavy (my biggest concern for tower fans). The bottom pedestal (that clicks in, post-delivery) worked just fine on our previous version but has never clicked all the way in on this version. I dislike it because I’m scared that one day, the pedestal will break if the part that doesn’t click in like it’s supposed to, catches on something. For a fan that I have for my baby, it’s a decent way to go. Not to loud, good fan settings, gentle breezes, timer and dimmable lights. This fan just lacks the necessary components to get it into the end zone for me. Maybe next version.

Greater than one weekAnother Edit: I have since got another fan from another company called Dreo, which are right here on Amazon. Now that fan was quiet. Way more quiet then any of these Quietset fans I got.. the first or the replacements. So my suggestion, skip honeywell and go look at the Dreo tower fans. Much better. **Update to My Original Review that is below** So I changed my star Rating for the fan from 2 Stars Down to 1. Honeywell, as a company, has been good at sending replacements and working with me, however, they cant seem to get me a model of this fan that actually works as it should. The first replacement had a loud buzz to it, the second replacent had a bad rumble to it, and now the third replacement, which I received today, is quieter, however in 3 out of the 8 modes available, there is this big vibrating rumble you can feel in the floor, and hear. Very Annoying. The motor is still loud even in sleep mode, although this is the first one I can almost deal with the noise the motor makes. Do yourself a favor -- skip this fan. A good warranty is good, but its useless if the model sucks so bad that everytime they send you one it has a problem with it. ** End of Edit ** Short / Quick version: Pros: Looks great, Slim, lightweight, Remote Control responds well, a decent amount of air, easy to put together, Honeywell has awesome (if not slow) customer service! Cons: -- Dealbreaker for me: Annoying motor noise cancels out any quietness you get -- the questionable build quality of base you put together Long Version: I ordered this fan due to recommendations for it on almost every page I looked up fans on. I was looking for a quiet and cool setting to watch tv with it and to sleep with a quieter fan. I had an older Honeywell tower fan which is awesome, minus the top panel stopped working and you have to use the remote, its still useful to this day. It was just noisy, and I lost a lot of features with that top panel of buttons not working. So I figured its time for an upgrade, and with all those recommendations and the luck I had with this other Honeywell I have had for many many years, I got this fan. - The initial hookup and impression - After receiving one fan that was broken, I got this one and it seemed in good shape. I set it up, which was easy. The base is a little worrisome on build quality, but if you are careful snapping it together, it shouldnt be an issue. Then I plugged it in and turned it on. This was when the disappointment started. - Quiet (Or not?) - The sleep mode had very little air noise. Great. However, there is this annoying vibration motor buzzing noise that makes up for it. All I heard was BUUUZUUZUZUUZUZUZUZUZUUUUZUZUZUZUZUZU (yeah, like that). It drove me nuts. Id rather have a noisy tower fan with lots of air noise. I turned it up to level 5, (which is called Relax), which is what I consider the first power setting and it sounded more like a normal fan then. However, after a few seconds, it starts this weird vibration noise again. THUMTHUMTHUMTHUMTHUM but make it like x100 faster than how you can say it with your mouth. Not as annoying, but still annoying. If I were to squeeze the fan with my hands, the noise would stop, which to me suggests a problem with something loose or a design issue with handling vibrations from the motor. I contacted Amazon, being annoyed because this was my second fan, and was graciously given a refund. - Feedback to Honeywell - Being very disappointed, I contacted Honeywell and conveyed my disappointment with this product. They responded by asking me a few questions and then to my surprise sent me a new one, no charge or anything. I have now received yet another one of these Fans, and guess what. IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING! So this has to be a design issue, or Im the unluckiest person in the world when it comes to fans. Is it useful? Sure. Is it worthy of being called a Quietset? Not in my eyes. It may make less air noise than many other fans, but that motor vibration buzz sound is just too much for me. I cant say if this would be as annoying to you other customers or not, but its definitely not as quiet as I was led to believe. - Performance and Design - The power is pretty good. People say its weak, but in my moderate-sized bedroom, I think it does pretty well. If it wasnt for that noise, it would be perfect for me. The design itself though is pretty well done. It looks nice, and its very skinny and lightweight. The LED on top isnt that bad, you can turn it way down via the button on the control panel and I didnt find it intrusive at night at all. So overall, if I could do it again, I wouldnt purchase this fan. Its just not worth it, especially for the price. The annoying vibration motor noise is just too much. So since I have it, I will make use of it in the noisy times of my residence in the noisiest of areas or at least with a lot of traffice, but for what I was looking for in my bedroom, it looks like I will have to look elsewhere.

> 3 dayOverall, I love this fan. It is very quite on low settings, and does increase slightly as you turn it up ( 8 fan settings ) But, Its not bad. I purchased a regular pedistal fan before I found this one that sounds like a jet engine taking off! So the Honeywell one is not noisy at all. I love white noise at night anyway! The Cons and reason for 4 stars vs 5: I dont like the generic remote control. The remote should have all the same features as the fan itself! This one is on/off, reciprocate and fan speed only. If you use it in the bedroom and dont like bright blue lights, the remote is no good. You have to manually turn the blue light off at the fan. And, anytime you make an adjustment to the speed or anything else, the blue light comes back on. Also, once you turn the fan off, it doesnt remember your settings other than the fan speed (the blue light comes on, if you like it to reciprocate, you have to set that up again) . The work around... I set the fan up the way I like it prior to getting into bed at night and hope that I dont need to adjust it during the night.

> 3 dayThis fan is extremely simple to use. I set it up with no issue and started using it immediately. I like how clean the design is and that it doesn’t take up to much space. It is fairly quiet but I almost wish it was louder. I like to use louder fans as white noise when I sleep. The remote works very well so you don’t have to get up and walk directly to the fan every time you want to change a setting. Overall, this is a really nice fan and I think it’s well designed. The display on the top is top notch quality as well as everything else that comes along with the fan itself. Definitely a good buy!

> 3 dayIve tried two of these fans from Amazon. The motor on the first one made a high pitched whining noise on all speed levels. Very annoying and difficult to sleep with it on, even at the lowest setting. Sent it back for a replacement. The replacement was an improvement but not by much. The lower four settings are nearly silent which is great, but the on higher four settings the motor whine comes back. The fan doesnt move as much air as other tower fans so it lacks the louder whooshing sound that might drown out the motor noise. I think the motor is of poor quality judging by the whine and the number of complaints of it failing within a year. Ive had other tower fans that still have silent motors after years of use. This fan is quite compact so the turbine is smaller and tightly packed with little blades. This may make the fan quiet on the low settings but seems to keep it from pushing a lot of wind on high and generating good white noise for sleeping. It is a new idea I guess but it wasnt well executed or tested before being rolled out. The remote isnt great as others have noted. It has power, oscillate and speed buttons but no way to turn down the bright LED light on the fan. There is a button on the fan to dim or turn off the light but for some reason has five brightness levels. Really on/off would be sufficient. And any change made to the fan settings turns the light on full brightness again. So without a light button on the remote, you need to go over to the fan and press the light button five times anytime you change the fan settings and want the light off again. The multiple speed settings are overkill as well as there is not much difference between the first three, the middle three and the top two. Low medium and high would be fine, especially since the fan doesnt get very high. The fan remote sensor is very sensitive and has a wide range of signals it will accept. Ive found two different tv remotes and my stereo remote all affect the fan in unexpected ways. the same button on my tv remote will sometimes turn the fan on or off, start it oscilating, change the fan speed or have no effect at all. The results arent consistent and even when the remote is pointed away and the fan is facing a different direction, it can pick up stray signals and behave like its haunted. I do like the compact footprint, silent lower speeds when watching TV and the adjustable light. It also doesnt make loud beeping noises when changing settings which I hate on my other fans. It seems Honeywell had some good ideas that stayed half-baked and badly thought through and that carried forward to the design and quality control. For the price, this should be a much better, more polished unit. My second one is going back and Ill look for a different fan.

> 3 dayI was initially disappointed in the power of the fan and was intending to return it. But after using it for a few days it grew on me. The fan needs to be within 3-5 feet for it to be felt so the remote is useless to me. It is too quiet for me to be white noise so I still use an old fashioned box fan for that. However, what I do like about this fan is that it takes up less space than a box fan, its quietness helps because I can have it beside me and still be able to hear the television and make phone calls without the noise interfering, and the oscillation feature is nice.

> 3 dayVery loud after 6 months. Started off fine and quiet but now is very loud and seems like it’s not oscillating correctly. Don’t recommend
