I got this over a 13th Gen since it is now fairly inexpensive and still plenty fast. I am using the Asus ROG Strix z690-E mobo so I should be able to upgrade to 13th Gen when those come down in price. This CPU needs a good cooler, I am using a ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. I am dual booting Linux and Win10 though I am running games mostly on Steam under Linux. Works surprisingly well.

Works great. Cut my CPU load almost in half from my old i7 system. Stays cool (using EKWB waterblock) and never goes over 50°C even with stress testing and hard gaming. Price is high compared to AMD’s offerings, so that’s kind of a negative, but overall this is a rock solid CPU.

Well worth the wait! This thing is fast. Love it, doesn’t get as hot as others are saying, I’ve got it paired with a 360 AIO so maybe that’s why.

Its a beast that does the job that you expect it to do. You can spend more money for a small amount of perfoirmance gain. This is the sweetspot that I expect it to be. Takes everything I can throw at it.

You get what you pay for...... If you want the fastest chip on the market - this is the chip for you. But it is just as expensive. Also, get a big cooler as this thing gets hot under a load.

I installed a large air cooler with 3 fans in large desktop with 5 fans and good airflow. but it is not enough for the recently released i912900KF. it still overheats and reaches 90c-96c degrees within 7-10 minutes of rendering when its 90% workload.

The only measurable task I have is video editing. This processor cut the time by 60-70%!

I dont play anything too intensive. Maybe Elden Rings? I am more of a FPS/CSGO player and this CPU goes up by maybe two degrees when I play those games. With a Noctua DH-15 this thing is ice cold.

I built a new computer for photography work and it is amazingly snappy and quick. This chip on an Asus Strix Z690-e motherboard, Asus TUF 3090TI, 64GB DDR5 6400 memory, Samsung 980 pro, NZXT Kraken Z73 all work famously together to keep the system fast and cool.
