> 24 hourUPDATE 1/3/2022: This machine seems to have developed problems starting up after being off overnight. If I re-try the startup, it works, and then there are no errors for the rest of the day. I suspect issues with the CMOS battery. Intel support for individuals/hobbyists is terribly lacking; I want to talk to someone but I cant find a phone number. Knocked off 2 stars because of this, and the next problem.

> 24 hourIve used NUCs before and have always liked them except for the fan noise. However, this particular NUC is very quiet and doesnt emit lot of fan noise at all. I installed all of the driver, firmware, and BIOS updates from Intel, installed M.2 drive, sata SSD drive, and RAM that are on Intels compatibility list, and everything on the machine is working great with Windows 10 Pro. No problems at all.

> 24 hourLate to the party, but just fyi to fellow IT people: avoid these unless youll be running Linux or are using WSUS to block drivers. Literally with fresh installs of the latest--and I mean latest, Jan 2023, builds from my VS Pro subscription--Win10 Pro *and* Win11 Pro, and literally minutes after I allow windows update to kick in and start installing driver updates it becomes unbootable. And not just that, you cant reinstall windows via bootable USB without--I kid you not--reformatting the hard drive. Because either Windows Setup screws up or the BIOS screws up or... honestly, who knows.

> 24 hourUnit booted one time and then failed to boot up or even POST (Post On Self Test). Amazon could not provide a replacement so I am waiting on a refund. After I receive the refund I will likely repurchase due to Amazon having this item in stock even though Amazon could not send a replacement.

> 24 hourThese things are great. I use mine for a power-efficient test bed for Python code and database applications. I generally run process-intensive applications at one time, and the NUC has no problems keeping up. The fan can wind up a bit, but its quieter than my laptop. Just give it some space for air flow and youre good to go. Great for 2nd machines, media players, test benches, or lightweight virtual hosts.

> 24 hourAmazon was good about a full refund after the first one broke a few weeks after the return window had expired. What broke was the bios... it became unable to boot. I couldn’t even get to the bios menu of F2.

> 24 hourThe full-sized SD card slot is non-functionally intermittent. I would have rather they stayed with the microSD slot.

> 24 hourI loved everything about this device when I built it. its fast, small, efficient, everything I wanted. What I didnt think of before I ordered was Wi-Fi performance. The machine this replaced was a full size desktop with a PCI Wi-Fi card with an external antenna that had really good throughput/connectivity. This device doesnt even come close. There is a 3rd party that makes a replacement lid that has antennas, but theres no way Im doing this while the device is under warranty.
