> 3 dayThis NUC is an approximately lateral upgrade from an AMD FX-8370-based system in terms of CPU, yet uses only a fraction of the power. Its tremendously quieter than a mid-tower with several fans, and uses (relative to my old case) only1.4% of the volume of the mid-tower case I had. This is small enough to set on my monitors base for easy access to I/O. If I had no needs for that, Id look into using the VESA mount instead.

> 3 dayRoon music server was successful, but modification of the bios to refactor boot was tough work like as maze.

> 3 dayUpgraded these bad boys to its full 64GB ram supported and added 1x SATA SSD + 1x NVMe. They boot off using a USB stick with VMware so I can leverage the full SSD + NVMe drives for the storage database.

Greater than one weekThis nuc is awesome. I bought it to replace a functioning macmini that was not performing as fast as I needed. I was tired of apples immoral lock-in practices and decided to go back to building my own system that supports running Linux. The hardware is great. I7 CPU is very fast along with all the other attached module. WIFI bluetooth etc... I am running 3 displays with no problems. I maxed out the nuc to the fullest which is 64GB of ram and I was still under $1k with hard-drive + ram. Very great value for the money. I will be buying nucs as my main computer moving forward. The form factor is perfect for my desk. Small but packs tons of power + speed

> 3 dayBIOS version on unit received was outdated. I was unable to update BIOS by any of the methods provided by intel. first attempt to install windows failed as nuc frozen on reboot. second attempt to install windows worked i was able to update BIOS from the windows package which prepared the nuc for booting into BIOS update program. So be prepared for some effort but I havent look back since getting going.

> 3 dayI loved everything about this device when I built it. its fast, small, efficient, everything I wanted. What I didnt think of before I ordered was Wi-Fi performance. The machine this replaced was a full size desktop with a PCI Wi-Fi card with an external antenna that had really good throughput/connectivity. This device doesnt even come close. There is a 3rd party that makes a replacement lid that has antennas, but theres no way Im doing this while the device is under warranty.
