Greater than one weekDisclaimer: This was purchased as a Thanksgiving gift to my wife, a veteran quilter - I wrote the review based on her observations and ratings. The Janome machine is made in Canada. It is a heavy duty unit, suitable for daily use. Yet, being mechanical (no internal computer) it is less likely to require frequent maintenance. A carrying case and special bundle of accessories were included in the price ~ a good value, compared to other researched machines. Since operation was totally different than her old sewing machine, my wife really appreciated the complete and well written instruction manual, including step by step procedures, with clear diagrams and drawings (exception: threader unit - last item in review). The machine runs quietly, fabric feeds very steadily, with almost no vibration. The unit came with many extras, including a box of quilting accessories and a sturdy integral carrying case. The bobbin case is clear, making it easy to judge thread use. Reverse button is handy, effective, and easy to use. Pressure foot attachment is a metal bar, making it easier to change and much more secure than plastics on other machines. This Janome unit offers eighteen different stitches. Selection is easy. Results are uniform and reliable. Accessory storage box is on the front of the machine, and slides off easily ~ i.e. when sewing pantlegs, etc. My wifes only negative comment was The needle threader sure seems nifty, but Im darned if I can figure how to use it. (were working on this one). ~ Dave Buckley ~ as instructed by Beth Buckley who was off quilting busily.

Greater than one weekBought my 3000 HD BE in June 2019. Yes, I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. Wanted a reasonably heavy-duty, non-computerized sewing machine to stitch leather, heavy-duty outdoor fabric, polyester webbing, multiple denim layers, etc., in addition to typical medium and light-weight fabrics. No, I’m not making gun holsters or horse saddles with it. Neither am I re-upholstering a ’57 Chevy. But this machine has stitched countless patches on motorcycle “biker” leather vests (through very heavy seams). It’s made outdoor furniture cushions with heavy-duty outdoor fabric, marine-grade backing, and full-length zippers. It’s produced corn hole bags (canvas with suede-leather patch), multiple layers of polyester webbing joined with box-X stitching, custom fly-rod rod bags, and blue jean pant repair (belt loops in particular). Lighter weight projects such as tote bags, throw-pillow covers, place mats, window treatments, and the occasional pant and dress hems have all been part of the mix. Bottom line is that this machine has easily handled every project I’ve attempted. Very, very pleased.

> 3 dayHave not used the machine much yet. Works well. I have trouble using needle threader but a friend tried it and it worked fine for her. Stitches are smooth and even. My first Janome machine, so I have some learning to do. Happy with the purchase.

> 3 dayI had a bought a new machine years ago that had a computerized dash board that I thought I would love. I hated it. I never used most of the stitches and had to keep going back to the manual. I have sewn since i was in my teens and found i did not sew very often with it. This time I was looking for a high quality Machine with a fairly small set of stitches offered with no computerization. this machine is perfect. sews beautifully, easy to use, very good instructions. the decorative stitches are just enough to put some fun finishing touches on projects.

Greater than one weekSometimes automatic threader takes a few times and the door has to be lifted to shut it after threading otherwise it’s a good machine

> 3 dayMaachine is weighty. It was purchased ,as advertised ,to sew leather. It will not sew leather. It is made for Home use and will probably work on medium weight upholstery.
