Janome HD 3000 BE Black Edition with Exclusive Bonus Bundle

Disclaimer: This was purchased as a Thanksgiving gift to my wife, a veteran quilter - I wrote the review based on her observations and ratings. The Janome machine is made in Canada. It is a heavy duty unit, suitable for daily use. Yet, being mechanical (no internal computer) it is less likely to require frequent maintenance. A carrying case and special bundle of accessories were included in the price ~ a good value, compared to other researched machines. Since operation was totally different than her old sewing machine, my wife really appreciated the complete and well written instruction manual, including step by step procedures, with clear diagrams and drawings (exception: threader unit - last item in review). The machine runs quietly, fabric feeds very steadily, with almost no vibration. The unit came with many extras, including a box of quilting accessories and a sturdy integral carrying case. The bobbin case is clear, making it easy to judge thread use. Reverse button is handy, effective, and easy to use. Pressure foot attachment is a metal bar, making it easier to change and much more secure than plastics on other machines. This Janome unit offers eighteen different stitches. Selection is easy. Results are uniform and reliable. Accessory storage box is on the front of the machine, and slides off easily ~ i.e. when sewing pantlegs, etc. My wifes only negative comment was The needle threader sure seems nifty, but Im darned if I can figure how to use it. Within 2 weeks of owning this machine I had to take it to a repair shop. The feed dogs would randomly go in reverse or just not feed altogether. The it completely stopped feeding. $80 at a repair shop and I just got it back. He said something was sticking in the stitch selector that caused the problem. Hopefully it will work now... but if it stops working again this will officially be a waste of money. Low star rating due to the fact that machine was defective.

In love with my new machine. Easy to operate and lots of accessories.

Picked up this machine to get started sewing cordura and other heavy fabrics. Once I got the machine dialed in, goes through multiple layers of 500D like a hot knife through butter. Stitches are even, no binding or bogging down.

I am an intermediate level sewer. I have a 301a Singer from the 50s for heavy duty sewing and a Brother 1034D Serger. This very nice machine is a wonderful addition. I still dont know how to use all of the features but so far I am loving it. It seems to be pretty sturdy even compared to my Singer. All of the goodies that go along make it a great deal.

Works very well on thick materials. I now do not have to plead with my wife when I have some thick materials to sew. Appears to be a very rugged machine.

Love my Janome HD3000 - Used to make leather purses. Wish I could use on thicker leather - I have to shave the edges before sewing. But I still love the machine!!!!

Im very happy with my machine, but not so easy to adjust the stitch settings

This is a non-electronic basic machine. Doesnt like to sew thick material. Not suitable for quilting. I returned it and purchased a machine to handle quilting.

I got a defective product. The bobbin wonder will not thread right bobbins-i tried with four different threads and all are messy and loose. The machine also will not complete zig zag stitches and starts sewing in place.
