> 24 hourIf you have a young toddler and an older child, this picnic basket set is fun and safe for them both, plus there is enough for them both to share with equal pieces (so no fighting!). PROS: *Encourages imaginative play and sharing. *Play food items store in the basket for easy clean up. *The pieces are durable and are of a higher quality, for example, when the ketchup and mustard bottles are squeezed (or even sat on!) they hold up and pop back out to original shape with no white creasing marks left behind. Just because I am a perfectionist I picked up on a few things that may not bother others. CONS: *The baskets color is not true to the picture. The basket I received was more of an orange-yellow, instead of a true yellow. I hate to say it, but it was an ugly color. *The watermelon slices are missing something, seeds. *The string that ejects from the ketchup and mustard when squeezed I thought bordered on clever but was a bit cheesy. *Speaking of cheesy, cheese please! That was one of the first things my daughter said, Mommy, theres no cheese. *When all items are placed inside the basket, its a little weighty. *While two of the same thing are nice for siblings so they have equal pieces, I would have appreciated more variety. Perhaps one pink cupcake, one blue and one hamburger, one hot dog, etc. With all that said, would I recommend it.... My daughter liked it, but I think the play set is just so-so. I really cant get past the color of the basket (it really is ugly), the pieces are redundant, so I would be more no than yes.

> 24 hourI was glad to give the Learning Resources New Sprouts Picnic set to my oldest (3 years old) daughter, because shes really been enjoying the food pretend play lately after getting some new food items on her birthday. Most of what she has are the cheaper, discount store items, and this looked to be a cut above that. The food items and plates are, as all the food has kind of a soft, squishy quality to it, and isnt made out of thin plastic with big mold seams all over it. The plates are nice, and the mustard and ketchup bottles are really cool, with a sting that comes out when you squeeze them (getting the string back in is not as simple...expect lots of daddy/mommy resets from these). The real problem with this set is the basket. Described as a durable plastic basket with handles on Amazons description, its really anything but that. The basket itself is fine (but does have that cheap plastic construction feel to it), but the handles are especially weak. Two of the ends that go into the basket have snapped off, making it more or less useless (or at least prone to coming out and dumping all of your food on the floor if youre not careful). For the price of this set, I was expecting something that would last longer than three weeks.

> 24 hourThis darling basket of soft plastic picnic foods really resonates with old fashioned play time.Even my grand toddler shows excitement in the shapes , the colors of the pretend food ,and the catsup and mustard bottles. It is the perfect toy for two to play and pretend with.My whole family loved this set for our little girl. The shapes are big enough and colorful enough to make it fun to handle. The basket is sturdy and the hamburgers come apart so you can pretend to make sandwiches.Im sixty and it brought me back in time remembering these type of childhood musings. A perfect culinary childhood set.

> 24 hourI have 9 other Learning Resource New Sprouts sets... They are usually great toys. I was a little disappointed in this one. For the price, you dont get a ton. I have the New Sprouts Cookout set which also comes with ketchup and mustard. I dont think the strings add much. I have a Melissa and Doug set which has a better ketchup and mustard (done with a rod that easily moves in and out of the bottle). The strings take a bit of cajoling to get back into the bottle. I also dont think the watermelon slices have the detail other Learning Resources New Sprouts play food have (lacking texture, and seeds). The burgers in this set are interesting as they are much darker than the one in the Learning Resources LER9256 Sprouts Complete Play Food Set. The buns are darker and the sesame seeds are white, whereas in the other set its all beige (bun and seeds). The burger is almost black, so I suppose they are well done compared to the brown burger patty in the other set. The basket is cute and the cupcakes are fine. It just doesnt feel like you get much in this set compared to the other Learning Resources New Sprouts play food sets.

> 24 hourWe got this set for our little 4 year old grand daughter to use with her play kitchen. I love that everything in this set is perfectly sized for little hands and all of the foodie items are sized correctly to fit onto play dishes. The faux squirting condiment bottles are a real hit with Princess Gia and she really loves that she can squeeze them and the attached string comes out to give her the feeling that she is squirting condiments on the food. Overall...we love this set and think its a great set which is affordably priced.
