This was a Christmas Gift for my 8 y/o. He really enjoyed building it and enjoyed the challenge. Its not easy but he enjoys this process. The display stand is a great feature also.

This is a great set, but its definitely geared more towards an adult. The set was actually the idea of a lego user (they submitted it through Lego Ideas). The dinosaur fossils are pretty easy to build, but you need to be dexterous in a few places and its 910 pieces, some of them are small. I lost track of the time it took me to build them, which is I guess a good sign. A couple of hours, Id say. The t-rex is about 7 inches tall, so hes pretty mighty. Once built, they make fun display pieces. They are surprisingly poseable. I love the Lego sapien joke. There are lots of fun details, especially on the triceratops. These arent museum accurate (or maybe they are to Lego sapiens. I dont know what a T.rex in Legoland looked like). If I had one complaint its that the Pteranodon is pretty boring compared to the other two. Hes smaller and hsi details are not as interesting, but hes still pretty cool.

Very cool set. Bought as a gift and it was a huge hit. A lot of thought clearly went into the design of this. A great gift for a kid ( or adult!) who is into science.

This summer was the year of Jurassic World! My 5 turning 6 year old is too young to watch any of the Jurassic Park movies, but that didnt stop the advertisements and displays in stores from reaching audiences far and wide including my son. He already loves Legos AND dinosaurs so this was the perfect mashup for him! We already have other Lego Juniors sets (I honestly wish they would make more). Lego Juniors are designed for 4-7 year olds. Basically, they are the same as the other Lego kits, but the instructions are more simplistic than the other kits for older children. The Legos designs are also more simple than the Lego kits for older children. The Legos are still the same size as regular Legos, so these are not an in between Duplos and Legos. If you step on them they will hurt. In addition, the pieces are tiny enough to get lost forever. My son is a free form builder, he does not care about the actual instructions, what he cares about is the potential for creating what is shown on the package. His Lego bin is filled with Lego kits all mixed together and he has a blast creating his own world, which is limitless. So, if you are insistent on your child following the directions to a T, then I would not recommend these for a younger child. Most boys under 6 just do not have the patience for this. Frustration sets in quick and the desire to just play takes over. Stick to Duplos or just plain free build sets until about age 6 or 7 if you want to stick to the instructions. However, if you dont mind the kits getting mixed up for creative play and your child loves Legos and Dinos, then this is the set for you.

My youngest nephew and I put this one together. It was fun and he quite enjoyed the experience. He loves dinosaurs so he was happy.
