> 24 hourGamble for love or gamble for money, but coming from a family where there is blindness--and remembering mistakes from my student welding days--I learned not to gamble with my eyesight. I purchased this Made-in-China item some days ago, and when it arrived I read all the directions and examined the controls. I adjusted sensitivity and faced the helmet directly into the sun, looking at the lens from the side of the helmet for safety, and yet the lens would not darken until sensitivity was turned up to about 85% of max. Right after this point it darkened, but then, even allowing for the max delay period and holding the helmet in deep shake, it would not release from dark. This helmet was purchased to replace my 13-year-old student welding school helmet from Miller. It still works fine, but I wanted the newer technology lens coloration. I asked Amazon for a return but have heard nothing whatever. Fast to take customer money, another way of doing business come return time.

> 24 hourYou can definitely see your weld better, blue like they say, but it is not like seeing in sunlight. It has been used it for silicon bronze mig welding on a Lincoln 115v machine. Those using more industrial levels of MIG welding might see a clearer advantage, so to say. The controls work fine, but the off view could be brighter. There are some cheap helmets with better stats, but I have faith the Lincoln is going to to last and be in use for a long time. I weld better now, the helmet does not try to amputate my ears like the old one and it is clearly a quality product. All in all was a good purchase. Someday there will be a technology that offers a completely clear view of welding, but it seems that will be later down the road. Weld quality is far more dependent on skill than helmets, but it is nice to have a good helmet as well. I feels good about this purchase.

> 24 hourI bought this helmet after taking an introductory welding class at a community college. The helmets available from the welding program had lenses with a pronounced green tint. This made it hard for me to see the arc, weld pool, and surrounding material with my version of red/green color blindness. The lens of this Viking Lincoln helmet is much more true color and Ive been able to weld much better after using it in class. The auto-darkening settings are all great as is the Grind Mode switch. I do have a hard time adjusting the harness so that it fits tight and comfortably without sliding down. However, its not much of a problem and this may simply be a function of my particular noggin.

> 24 hourWhat more can I say about this helmet. It’s a Lincoln and this is what my son uses in tech school and he really likes it so that’s why I bought this one. Works perfect as it should, the Lincoln name stands on its own.

> 24 hourThe clarity is amazing. If you can’t afford the 3350 this is the way to go. I do wonder what shade 8 would look like. Absolute 5 star helmet none the less.
