Greater than one weekIn Lord of War, Nicholas Cage plays an illegal arms dealer based on the profiles of multiple (actual) people in the same trade who were active in early 90s illegal arms trade. His performance is what you expect (excellent) and the cast is of similar caliber (pardon the pun), including Ethan Hawke, Jared Leto, and Bridget Moynahan, to name a few. Although the plot is somewhat predictable (bad decisions lead to bad outcomes), its still a well-made movie. Who would the movie appeal to? Im not sure. I watched it because it stars Cage. Outside Cage fans, it may appeal to those interested in the historical context that the film covers - early 90s illegal arms trade in Africa. Its definitely not a feel good movie given the content.

Greater than one weekThe technical quality is theater standards. I especially like the 5.1 surround sound. The action and violence is typical which is very good for me every time. I am always mentioning the shooting but this one is about the tools for shooting. I also dont classify this movie as war. Like I said, I classify it as action, violence. I could classify it as documentary but like I said, in my spreadsheet it just was action, violence and I am thusly grateful to Amazon Prime Video.

09-04-2025Cmon Jared Leto and Nick Cage in the same movie! This is the main reason I bought this film, although Jared is a singer as well as an extraordinary actor. These two bring so much to the table, I never tire of this film. I downloaded to my phone so I can watch it anytime I want.

Greater than one weekAn exciting, twisting look at the underground arms industry. Pros -Cage does a wonderful job playing the nonplussed Lord of War. He is restrained and doesnt fall into the goofy cage category of some of his recent films -Niccols script is not overly political, but still touches on the situations and motivations that drive arms dealing -gorgeous cinematography, with a standout sequence through a drug tinged city at night Cons -Cage at times seems too calm with his narration delivery

> 3 dayThis is a fantastic movie, without a doubt one of Cages best, maybe THE best. Great performances by everyone. This movie presents a stark view of the world that is unfortunately, very accurate. War is a big business and the ultimate in consumerism. It consumes everything. Vast munitions, equipment, structures and even people are swallowed by it.
