> 24 hourThis program was easy to install. It has an older style of layout and there is definitely a learning curve to using it. Some of the functions are better in other video editing software such as trimming video. Overall it works and gets the job done for creating home videos of all my footage and adding music to them along with using the transition effects.

> 24 hourI have other software by Magix that I liked, so when I had a chance to get this, I jumped at it. Im on their mailing list and I frequently get offers to get their prior-year software at a bargain price. In fact, if youre unsure about whether their software style is right for you, you may want to consider a prior-year version... theyre usually a fraction of the price of their current offering. Check their website or get on their mailing list if that appeals to you. For my business, I have a subscription to Adobe that gets me Premiere Pro and After Effects. I am not a professional editor, but Ive slogged my way through those programs to produce a video that had effects that Im proud of. However, it took hours of watching YouTube videos and trial-and-error to get a finished product, and Im no closer to being comfortable with those programs than I was when I started. Meaning you really have to devote a good part of your life to learning that skill. For an amateur video that wont be watched by more than a handful of people, is it worth all that effort? You decide. Then theres this software. Installation, as others have noted, is excruciatingly slow for reasons I dont know. I didnt actually time it, but others have said about 30 minutes and I believe them. Fortunately thats a one-time thing and once you get past that, you can do some exploring. I tried to resist constantly thinking well, Premiere would let me do that..., but it did come up often. I soothed myself by thinking but this costs pennies on the dollar compared to Premiere. And the fact is that this Suite of software can do many higher-end editing effects that youd expect only from a costlier product. Its impossible to go through everything with a comparison to Premiere or any other editor, but suffice it to say that you can take raw video sources and create a very polished final product with this software, as long as you study your options and do a lot of trial and error. Along that line, be sure to save your work frequently along the way. There are functions that are difficult or impossible to undo, which means you may destroy hours of work if you cant revert out a bad decision. With frequent intermediate saves, at least you dont have to start over from scratch. I learned this the hard way. Look around and on their website for videos that have been produced with this software, and youll see some effects that will impress you. The current price (as I write this) is less than most other video editors with similar capabilities, so it may be a good place to jump in to a semi-pro level. Its certainly more full-featured than any of the free-but-locked-down products Ive seen. If youre looking for pro, though, bite the bullet and try a few months of Adobe. Youll either go on to be a famous editor, or youll come running back here screaming obscenities. ;-) Recommend.

I love all the neat effects and features this program has to offer. This is an awesome beginner software for anyone looking into video editing. I highly recommend.

> 24 hourI recently ordered the Magix Movie Studio Suite to use to make some video of a recent trip. The disk arrived quickly. Typically, a CD installs just run and when you open the software, it asks for the serial number to actually use it. This was the most convoluted installation process Ive ever experienced. The disk arrived with a voucher number which has to be entered on a website, which of course you have to create an account first. You then receive an email with the serial number. Just this aspect, took a while. With the initial email, you also get some bonus plug-ins serial numbers as well. Well, you have to create an account with that maker and then you get more serial numbers. I downloaded these plug-ins and entered the numbers within but required I download again from within the software. It took me over 2 hours to get this installation completely installed, updated and ready to go. Im no novice with computers and I have not been this frustrated in a long time. Having finally gotten it figured out and updated, I got to play around with the functions. Although my computer is fast, this software stalled a lot and took a while to upload videos. I had to force close a couple of times. It is also important to note that I constantly get pop up advertisements to upgrade my software subscription and there isnt a way to stop it. I will likely just keep using my windows movie maker instead of this software.

> 24 hourThis video editing software was very easy to install and use on my custom build windows PC. You just put the CD in, install it, register it with the key provided, and you are ready to go. There are so many options to play with, and your videos turn out professional. Really fun for vacations or special events!

> 24 hourI installed on my new Microsoft Surface Book 3, 64 bit Windows 11 Home, Intel Core i7 CPU, RAM 32GB, GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 It is a 1.2 GB download. I have 300 Mbps download speeds, but the download was throttled at the server, it took 20 minutes to download plus 10 minutes for install and configuration. Installation and registration went smooth at that point. There are some nice tutorials, click on Help-> Multimedia Community, this brings you to a webpage with several videos to help you get started. I installed some add-ons, which included demos, templates, effects, etc. The product does come with some audio files for adding to your project, you can always download your own. After all the setup and addons, I used the wizard to create a nice video merging my videos, and still pics, with transitions and music in no time. Do not try to install this on PC/laptop with older graphics cards. On my first attempt I installed this on an computer that did not have a compatible graphic card and received an error when attempting to run the software. I would think during installation, the computer specs would be checked and if not compatible, a message would appear at that point. A waste of 30 minutes. The support FAQs confirmed the error.

> 24 hourI generally only edit video as a hobby for my personal use, mostly home video. As such, I dont have the need or budget for very expensive video editing options. I have used Adobe Premier Pro which is an excellent program with great features, but unfortunately its subscription based. If you only have a limited time to work on your videos here and there it can take a long time and those subscription fees can really add up. For me Adobe Premier Pro is only viable if I know I can finish up the video in less than a month in which case its possible that its worth paying for 1 month of access to finish the video, but it still adds up if you have to do multiple videos over the course of a few years and every time you pay for one month of access. My next favorite editor is Cyberlinks Power Director which is a perpetual license (though they do offer a 365 subscription version too). The upfront cost is a bit pricey but offer many of the same advanced features of Adobe Premier Pro. Its not quite as intuitive or easy to use as Adobes software, but there are many tutorials and help files both in-app and on-line. The program is a powerful editing tool and is appropriately priced. Ive also tried a number of free versions of other video editors. Many higher end video editor offer a free version that gives access to more basic features while locking the more advanced ones behind subscriptions or perpetual licenses that will cost you significantly more money. This program is somewhere between the free versions of other editors and Cyberlink Power Director. It comes at a much lower price point half the price of Cyberlinks lower priced editor. It is a perpetual license so you dont have to worry about subscriptions and will always be able to use it as long as your machine meets the minimum requirements (which are actually pretty low). Most video editors have some similar features and UI setups, but all of them require a little time to learn their specifics and differences. This UI is no different, if you want to use it properly youll need to spend some time learning it. Unfortunately there are far fewer tutorials and help and I found the UI to be less intuitive than most programs Ive used. Feature-wise this is a pretty robust program offering a lot more advanced features than most of the free editors, but you wont get all the features you would in Adobe or Cyberlinks editors. One thing that makes this not as good for me is that your output options are far more limited than Adobe or Cyberlink. Its basic formats only. This program does seem to take a very long time to download and install, plan on the process taking about half an hour. I didnt have any problems while using the program, it ran smoothly and I didnt encounter any errors or glitches. However, I do recommend making frequent and multiple saves of videos and cut video files because the undo option is sometimes not able to undo certain actions and you may need to scrap it and start working with the clip again from a previous point. You will need to clip videos into smaller segments to apply multiple effects and edits to specific parts as opposed to the whole video which is a little annoying but workable. To me this is a happy medium for beginners to get into editing with some more robust features if they are willing to put in the time to learn the program and dont need to save in or handle lots of video formats. Its good for those who want to have a perpetual license as opposed to a subscription as well. Its also good in terms of features vs cost and if a much lower price point than most editors offering as many editing features as this does.
