I was impressed with the entire editing suite youd pay a lot for this on a pro level and you get a lot of the same features and expansion options here. It makes movie files for you in short order you can use your own source materials it gives you options for bringing in stock footage or slides you can do kind of like PowerPoint but the new version of. It reminded me heavily of paint shop Pro which is my personal preference over Photoshop and stuff like that I have always been a PSP fan for photo editing and such for at least a decade now I started out waiting to be getting and I noticed while not made by the same company the format the feel of the menuing system and everything else is really close which is great because then you can use both of those programs in tandem and not go from one interface totally to something different you can keep that continuity between them. It does come with everything you need in the kit itself the license is what you really after but it does give you options for downloading or installing it although most of us dont have cds/dvds anymore in our equipment or even in our laptops, this will easily come down under your unit and let you get at it right away. If you have that kind of a rig setup. It doesnt seem to tax memory heavily for its processing but obviously the better rig you have the better machine youre using the faster the results youre going to end up seeing at the very end but very nice video software suite.

I dont shoot that much video, but I do shoot some and I am always interested in anything that might make my editing job simpler. I already have a different Magix program which I like so I thought I would try their video editor. I received a DVD installation package and as I do have a DVD drive I chose to install that way. It can be done as a download version if you do not have a suitable drive. The installation can only be described as S-L-O-W. It took 22 minutes from start to finish for the full installation of the video editor only. Rather annoyingly to my mind I then had to take the voucher code that came with the DVD and go to the companys website to redeem it. The only way to redeem it is to create an account. Most people buying software like this will create an account anyway so I see this extra step to get a serial number as totally unnecessary. Anyway, some 30 minutes after I first started the installation I managed to get the program up and running. I am used to using video editors already so even though it was an unfamiliar interface many of my previously learnt techniques allowed me to get started quickly. If you have never used a video editor before then I would suggest watching the introduction video. The program is surprisingly fully featured considering the price level, which is great for anyone hoping to do a little more than the most basic of basics. I found the tool tips which appear whenever you mouseover any of the buttons to be a useful feature. One aspect I did find a little odd is that the play button once activated defaults to stop rather than pause. I am used to the pause function being there and I do miss it. The stop wouldnt be quite so bad if it stopped the video at that point but it doesnt. It reverts to the start of the movie. The program for me was very stable. I did not experience any glitches or crashes which some reviewers had mentioned. I am using the latest version of 64-bit Windows 11 on a desktop. The desktop is running an i7 processor with 48GB of RAM and an Nvidia GPU along with a 4K monitor. The minimum system requirements are given on the listing and are surprisingly low for such a fully featured editor. I am sure that I still have a lot to learn as regards everything that this editor can do but anyone with a little experience will be able to produce an acceptable video fairly quickly. It is also possible to upload your movie to YouTube or Vimeo from within the program. Overall, I am pleased with the features the editor has and I will continue to use this and learn its in and outs. For the asking price, this is a very comprehensive editor. I do wish it was faster to install and that they would do away with having to play with two long alphanumeric codes.

This software is very easy to use for editing video. It is a cheap alternative to premiere pro if you do not need all the bells and whistles that come along with Adobe. You can definitely edit video good enough for social media or small projects. It took a bit, trying to get used to this layout after being so accustomed to other editing programs, but if this is your first video editing software then it should be a breeze to learn as there is no muscle memory. I have used Magix a very long time ago, like 2004 and the software has come a long way since then as mpeg2 was the best back then. So this software is great for beginners and those just needing a cost efficient way to get into editing.

I have other software by Magix that I liked, so when I had a chance to get this, I jumped at it. Im on their mailing list and I frequently get offers to get their prior-year software at a bargain price. In fact, if youre unsure about whether their software style is right for you, you may want to consider a prior-year version... theyre usually a fraction of the price of their current offering. Check their website or get on their mailing list if that appeals to you. For my business, I have a subscription to Adobe that gets me Premiere Pro and After Effects. I am not a professional editor, but Ive slogged my way through those programs to produce a video that had effects that Im proud of. However, it took hours of watching YouTube videos and trial-and-error to get a finished product, and Im no closer to being comfortable with those programs than I was when I started. Meaning you really have to devote a good part of your life to learning that skill. For an amateur video that wont be watched by more than a handful of people, is it worth all that effort? You decide. Then theres this software. Installation, as others have noted, is excruciatingly slow for reasons I dont know. I didnt actually time it, but others have said about 30 minutes and I believe them. Fortunately thats a one-time thing and once you get past that, you can do some exploring. I tried to resist constantly thinking well, Premiere would let me do that..., but it did come up often. I soothed myself by thinking but this costs pennies on the dollar compared to Premiere. And the fact is that this Suite of software can do many higher-end editing effects that youd expect only from a costlier product. Its impossible to go through everything with a comparison to Premiere or any other editor, but suffice it to say that you can take raw video sources and create a very polished final product with this software, as long as you study your options and do a lot of trial and error. Along that line, be sure to save your work frequently along the way. There are functions that are difficult or impossible to undo, which means you may destroy hours of work if you cant revert out a bad decision. With frequent intermediate saves, at least you dont have to start over from scratch. I learned this the hard way. Look around and on their website for videos that have been produced with this software, and youll see some effects that will impress you. The current price (as I write this) is less than most other video editors with similar capabilities, so it may be a good place to jump in to a semi-pro level. Its certainly more full-featured than any of the free-but-locked-down products Ive seen. If youre looking for pro, though, bite the bullet and try a few months of Adobe. Youll either go on to be a famous editor, or youll come running back here screaming obscenities. ;-) Recommend.

Software has glitches all over the place. No good. I had the old Vegas and never had an issue.

I had an older version of this but wanted to update to the latest and greatest. When you purchase this, you receive a package with a CD and a slip of paper with a code on it. You can install off the CD, if you have an optical drive, but youll probably have to immediately update it, so just get the download to start with. Maybe it was just a bad day, but Magixs servers were painfully slow. The download took over an hour. You also have to go to a website, enter the code, and then they email you the actual license code you need. Thats an unnecessary step - but it gets worse. The email with the license code also includes codes for the Newblue packs that are included. You need to download and install them, which involves restarting Magix several times and a separate application manager to handle the expansion packs. However, they show up in the manager as trial versions. The codes that came in the email do not work in the manager to register them. Instead, you have to go into Magix Movie Studio, to the effect menu, and find the entries for each. THAT screen finally has the actual codes that you need to activate them. Once you get through all the hoops, the software works and doesnt require a monthly fee like other editors. Just allow time to get it set up.
