thanks to this little piece, i dont have to put the TV volume up to level 40 anymore...it did quiet down the whole filter. theres no more rattling and vibration noise. i will update if anything changes. so far...its been worth the purchase (2 weeks)

Pure joy replacing my noisy old impeller. Worth every penny!

We bought a whole used aquarium set-up through Craigs List - and the Emperor filter was noisy and weak. So we thought about replacing the filter, but many reviews said that replacing the impeller might just do the trick. The good news: like those reviewers said, it took a noisy, weak filter and made it quiet and powerful. Saved us quite a bit of money, at least until ... The bad news: Four months later, and its back to noisy and weak. So its another twelve dollars, and hoping that it lasts longer this time.

These are the redesigned impellers, and mine came with a new, redesigned bottom cover, too. I think Marineland got things right this time. If you have an old Emperor filter that was noisy from 5-10 years ago, those impellers actually were not made correctly (change of manufacturing location) and were very noisy. I managed to get some NOS prior build ones, but after 4-5 years they were getting tired. These are made with fewer parts and even less to go wrong, pump strongly, and the only noise I get is the flowing water, as it should be.

Replaced broken (and very noisy) impeller on Emperor 400 filter. Compared to what we had, the noise level was reduced significantly. No complains so far.

Fixed my noisy low flowing pump. Easy to replace and saved me from buying a whole new unit.
