Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 15” Touch-Screen – Intel Core i7 - 32GB - 1TB Solid State Drive - Matte Black

Im homebound for ~6 months with 2 broken ankles; the sporadic function of the Chromebook I had was driving me nuts trying to get anything done or keep myself entertained while stuck at home. Bought the Surface after my positive experiences with the one I am supplied with for work and now I am able to get stuff done all day without freeze-ups and rebooting every 12-24 hours. And the configuration options available were mind blowing...it took a bit to decide what it was I actually needed on the unit verses the cost of paying for ALL the options.

I have owned many Surface devices and as I type this brief review on my Surface Laptop 4 15, I can say I am very happy with this device and actually, has been the least temperamental of any Surface device I have ever owned. I have had no blue screens, no crashes and it has been very stable. It is blazing fast, very quiet and performs really well even at the recommended power settings and not needing to bump it up to higher performance which lets it run nice and cool and quiet. Other than heavy 3d rendering that I run on my gaming desktop, this is my daily driver for 3d modeling, CAD design, and running my design business and does everything without a single performance disappointment. There is one problem I am having and the more I read, the more I am seeing it has to do with Intel 11th gen chips and not isolated to Surface devices so I thought it would be good to let everyone know this in case you have the same issues. I read about this issue on XPS 13 machines and some HP machines. There is a major lag in the Bluetooth performance. I am using a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse- the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard and MX Vertical mouse... and if I pause for 5 seconds or more, there is a delay in re-engaging with the Bluetooth again. If I am typing a document, and pause for more than 5 seconds, as soon as I type another letter, it takes a second or 2 to see the letter populate. It is not fun when doing my designs either as it is really frustrating with the lag and my commands get delayed. Because I use the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard my hands have gotten so used to the posture of my wrists which really reduces my hand pain... but I have had to temporarily switch to a wired keyboard I had laying around and my hands are starting to hurt again. Hopefully someone else out there has a solution to this. Other than this hiccup, I love the machine. I wish the screen was a big brighter and a little less reflective but maybe in time this is something that will change too. You wont be disappointed with this machine!

I got the 15-inch Ryzen 7 version in grey metal. Ive had the SP2, SL2, SL3, and now this SL4. Its the best Surface yet! Its got better battery life and better thermal performance than my intel-based SL3.

Does everything I expect a laptop to do, only faster!

Great features, power, and price - one-fifth of what I used to pay for luggable devices. I hated my first Surface enough to give it away, but the laptop version is great. A USB A or C hub is almost a necessity because of limited ports - but more would increase the size. I had to buy this model because all the less powerful (and cheaper) units were sold out - now Im really glad I did.

I believe this company intentionally sold me a defective product and are now telling me to go through Microsoft for a refurbished laptop. Unacceptable!! This laptop only lasted 3 months!!

I finally decided to get myself a formidable, light, high quality, fast (very fast) processor with great storage. This is the dream come true. I am thrilled with this laptop!

Just getting it going, transferred data from old machine to thus one and did a cloud upload. So far im happy with the purchase.

Arrived in excellent condition and works as well as was originally expected.
