Mitutoyo 500-195-30 Advanced Onsite Sensor Absolute Scale Digital Caliper, 0-4 Range, Stainless Steel

I saw that Mitutoyo offered this 4-inch caliper. Great! I only measure a couple of inches or less, right? This will be perfect, and more compact.

The caliper is genuine Mitutoyo. Smooth, well machined, accurate. Serial number is matching the one on the inspection certificate. SR44 battery included. Only complain is the gigantic 6 case (and the outer package says Dial Caliper)

Gave as a gift, as such I didnt get to use it myself. However, the biggest difference I noticed right off the bat when my dad opened it (other than the extra 0 at the end of the display) is the AWESOME case this thing comes in. Buy any other cheapo caliper online and youre going to get one with a fragile plastic case. I own maybe 6-8 calipers, and I would say at least 3 of those have a crack in the case or a corner blown out. This case is stout. I told my dad I was jealous of the present I gave him, at which point he in all sincerity tried to give it BACK to me as a gift. I sure do love my dad :)

A measuring tool is a good time to area high quality. In the long run, I think it is a better value than cheap ones. This is a professional level tool. But even for the more casual machinist or hobbyist, at times a professional level tool is the best way to go. Most will do fine with the 6 version for standard work, but sometimes the 4 version is a little handier when working with smaller parts or around smaller machines.

in mid use using the included battery, my calipers started flashing little black bars...means needs new battery? i tried the ones i had LR44,, didnt work.. then ordered SR44...still wont work but now i cant find the battery cover..no exact matches...so now i have to order a brand new calipers? well it certainly will not be this one...waste of money if i can not get battery and replacement cover to work.

This 4 caliper is really great. I already have the same in a 6 but I needed something that could get into smaller areas.
