This caliper works better than any I currently use.

I purchased this for my own home use. The caliper appears to be genuine. There is a small bit of marring on the back of the bar. The fixed jaw has some minor finishing issues as well. The sliding motion is not entirely smooth with noticeable oscillatory variations in resistance when moved at more than a snails pace. The overall quality and attention to detail of this model does not live up to that of my ~60 year old Mitutoyo dial caliper, or the ~20 year old Mitutoyo digital caliper i use at work. Mitutoyo is still really the only brand to consider for high-end, buy once, use forever type calipers. Compared to the older models this caliper is something of a disappointment. Given the market Mitutoyo calipers appeal to it is a shame that the quality/QC has been seemingly compromised to lower the cost or increase profit. Even if getting a new caliper that lived up to the older models cost twice as much as this one did it would be more than worth it.

I have this one for the workshop. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LPIWAYO/ I wanted a second one for inside the house. So I bought this caliper. Knowing what I know now, Id have spend the extra money to get the one I bought before for 2 main reasons. 1 - This one doesnt auto-power off. 2 - The buttons are small and practically flush with the plastic face. Neither of which was an issue with the other one. The other doesnt even have a power button it powers up and down automatically. Functionally it works fine and seems well made. Id just rather not be annoying by trying to press buttons it should be easy to press. Or opening the carrying case and noticing it was still turned on.

I love these calipers. These are accurate and come in a solid case for storage. Ive made the mistake of buying cheap calipers in the past and finally I did the right thing and bought a pair of these Mitutoyos. Japanese quality!

A bit disappointed. I bought an iGaging caliper that works just as well and accurate (100 700 06) as the Mitutoyo. Im not complaining about the caliper but I am complaining about the protective case the Mitutoyo comes in. iGagings cases are much better and I am disappointed with the Mitutoyo case hinge, it looks like a razor knife cut right on the hinge and will break loose in short time. I called MSI viking the seller and they have no record of my purchase through Amazon, therefore they will not send me an undamaged case under warranty. I will be calling Amazon customer service and tell them that I am not happy and may request a return and credit. All I really want is a new case thats not damaged, at the price you pay for a Mitutoyo I would expect more than less and would appreciate service. I only decided to buy from Amazon and the MSI viking vendor since there are so many counterfeit Mitutoyos being sold online and that MSI Viking is a Mitutoyo distributor. I am updating my review. I got a response and MSI-Viking sent me a new storage box and replaced the defective one. Somehow the original order was not in their (MSI-Viking) data base due to my purchase through Amazon. Im happy and pleased. many times after the sale you get no response from the seller. I was vey hesitant about buying a Mitutoyo caliper since there are so many counterfeits sold as the real thing and some at even a higher price. I did contact Mitutoyo for a list of authorized distributors and I do urge that if you buy from Amazon or E-Bay to only buy from an authorized distributor such as MSI-Viking. MSI-Viking is an authorized distributor for Mitutoyo, Starrett, Browne and Sharpe, and Mahr Federal. I assure you they are the real McCoy. Hope this review helps you make your choice. I highly recommend that you contact them and save on the shipping with Amazon Prime.

The only negative about these I am noticing right now is the surface finish and burrs on a few of the non-critical surfaces. They measure fine, but I was slightly disappointed in the fit and finish of those few areas. The other Mitutoyo calipers Ive used havent been like this. Its not a big deal, but it is there.

I bought this for my silver jewelry making. This one is so much nicer than my old one the only thing missing from this one is the fraction function that I have on my old one has but that’s minor in comparison. I will never use any other caliper, I also payed the extra money for the piece of mind and got the calipers with the certificate of calibration.

I own three of these in varying lengths, and they are fantastic. They are accurate and batteries last a long time. Worth the money.

I bought two other calipers prior to these. What a waist of money. I did watch a thirty-four minute video on You Tube before purchasing that showed how to tell the real Mitutoyo from the counterfeit. These are real, and awesome.

This is what you buy if you need to know the readings will be correct 100% of the time. Great tool.
