> 24 hourI took my time installing this as i wanted to get it right first time, in total it took me 3 hours. Removing the old screen was the most difficult bit. The trick for me was to make sure I got the pry-lever underneath the sticky adhesive strip, which helps to remove a screen thats in pieces as it helps lift the glass. I used a hair dryer on its second / middle setting which was perfectly adequate. Keep applying the heat if / when it becomes hard to slide the lever along. I kept my finger on the lever to maintain a set depth but misjudged it along the ‘hinge’ side and cut through the ribbon connectors. It didnt matter though as they are attached to the broken screen anyway. The one for the home button was okay, which is handy if you need to re-use it, which I didnt. The adhesive strip on the hinge side is very thin, only 1-2mm. The adhesive around the camera and home button was also along the edge of the clear area of the screen but care is needed not to damage any components as the lever is inserted deeper to reach it. With the glass breaking off at the corners it aided what I could see. Clean the adhesive off the surface of the iPad carefully. Remove all broken bits of glass and I used Isopropyl Alcohol with cotton pads to remove the remaining adhesive. I cleaned until it was smooth and shiny. When fitting the new screen there is an adhesive strip on the back of the ribbon for the home button, remove the plastic by pulling the protruding blue tabs and stick it down to the screen, working from the home button to leave any spare at the hinge position. I gave the LCD screen a clean with lint free pads and just dry wiped it. With the screen in place I put several books on it to apply some pressure for about half an hour. It’s not glue so it doesnt need to set but I wanted to give it every chance I could, as I said I only wanted to do it once. Switched it on and all was working fine, the screen even looks brighter. Having everything already installed in the new screen was good, I would not have wanted to apply the adhesive tape myself. Very pleased with the end result, it went better than I expected and I now have a £600 iPad back in action for a cost of £20, awesome.

> 24 hourInstructions not quite clear but if your attempting this repair I suspect you are a fixer already. Go slow remove all glue and redress the corners if they are bent. Overall good product. Pay attention to the details.

> 24 hourProduct is good except for the instructions... they suck. Fortunately, there are a zillion YouTube videos showing how to do the repair. It’s nice that it comes with the needed tools as well.

> 24 hour5 stars for cost. I might have to update this review after the adhesive finishes the job but, for $20 bucks compared to the $100 these ifixit places want to charge, I feel pretty damn satisfied. At best I may have to find a better glue. Guaranteed Ill still keep around $80 dollars difference. This is my second cracked screen repair. Ifixit did it 1st and damaged it!! I had ifixit repair it once and now that I looked inside myself to do my own repair and Ive discovered damaged and missing screws from them!!!! DO IT YOURSELF and it wasnt hard with a 10-minute video from youtube that told me all I needed to know and I dont even have a heat gun! I used an iron but BE CAREFUL!! Just heat the EDGES ONLY WITH A TOWEL IN BETWEEN the iron and the screen edge.

> 24 hourInstructions were great and installation was as described in instructions. However, within one hour of installation, glass cracked down middle and became unresponsive to touch. Very fragile and poor quality glass.

> 24 hourEDIT: I got this to fix my sons iPad and i have it in an otter box case. The first drop the screen shattered and now i have to do this mess all over again with a different screen cause i definitely wouldnt use this kit again. Ill leave my original review but Im not happy right in this moment... Old review: The kit was a good value overall but without any use at all I unfortunately have a giant scratch across the face of the screen and not sure how that got there as I only installed and set books on top if it to help the adhesion. If it wasnt such a pain to get it off I would just replace it again ha but I just bought a screen protector to hopefully not get any more. Its not a huge issue but when I go from having a severely cracked screen and fixing it only to then have a decently deep scratch instantly it kind of kills the high of fixing something ha. So my advice would be to make sure you have a screen protector and put that on it before you even begin install. I cannot speak on the function of the screen yet as Ive just gotten it. Maybe Ill make an update later as Ive heard some of these screens can turn yellow/have a yellow hue over time.
