I got a defective cable and cant return or contact customer service... I ordered 2 for my studio monitors speakers. And only 1 of the cables work. Skip out on buying this if you have quality concerns. Im gonna buy from guitar center where the livewire branded cables have life time warranty.

Theres not too much you can say regarding cabling unless youre in a super hi-end environment, theres no real difference in cables. Ive learned that over the years. This is a great cable and not for the cable itself but the conduit and materials used to put this cable together definitely impressed me. Years ago cables use to cost as much as your equipment but since have come down. Most companies have come down in cost considerably, and so have the quality. But this cable I found well built. I recommend this cable to all. Remember you get what you pay for. But for the price this is a great cable. Im heavy into electronics and very satisfied. Hope this helps you out.

TLDR: This is a reasonable cable except that the metal shell of XLR plug is attached to pin 1. This can be fixed by cutting the connection between pin 1 and the shell. It is a bit tedious to do so since this cable uses the old school XLR connector held together by screws :( Note that the sleeve of a phone jack is very often connected to chassis ground. In this cable the sleeve is connected to the XLR shell so it is very likely that there will be a direct connection between the two chassis of concern. If the XLR equipment used with this cable has pin 1 connected to chassis ground then any noise that is picked up on the cable shield will be injected directly into the audio stream. Worse, any differences in the chassis ground potential between the driven end and the receiving end will cause a ground current to flow through the shield (i.e. ground loop) which can cause very severe noise problems. Mogami and other quality cable builders do not make any connection to the XLR shells at all to avoid ground loops. In practice only pin 2 and pin 3 are really needed because well designed equipment only uses the voltage difference between pin 2 and pin 3 to transmit/receive signals. Hence any noise common to the conductors on pin 2 and pin 3 will cancel. The ability to cancel such common mode noise is a main reason that XLR is the best analog interface.

Had this same cable in a shorter length so it was a no brainer to go with this one at the longer length needed

I have been using my monoprice cable for a couple weeks now as part of my recording rig in my studio. Overall the cable has held up pretty well after daily use and the noise has been minimal to none. Only issue I have encountered is when plugging in my bass the 1/4 inch jack does not always fit into the divot easily. Overall I would recommend this product to family and friends.

This seems to be good. Works fine. I ordered three and only received two. The invoice said I had three coming.

Monoprice"s line of Professional Audio cables brings you high performance cables at rock bottom prices. . Whether you"re connecting broadcast equipment instruments for your band or your high end entertainment system Monoprice has the interconnect cables for you. Balanced audio cables utilize impedance balanced lines that reduce EM and RF noise and extend the effective range of the cable run. Additionally unlike standard unbalanced RCA interconnects that utilizes their braid as a signal return balanced cables have a separate braided shield to provide additional resistance to interference without modulating the interference into the signal. This prevents ground loop issues. XLR to 1/4" TRS balanced pro audio cables provide high fidelity and eliminate noise in the recording studio and on the stage. Our new Premier Series cables up the ante in terms of construction quality and performance.
