we had a safety first latch on our trash can and another piece of furniture that my son liked to get into (coffee table that slides opens at the top). He was able to rip off both the trash can latches and the coffee table. These munchkin ones are way better quality and easier to open and close. I recommend them for baby proofing.

Ive been using these for about a year now and theyre still going strong! They keep the kids out of cupboards and the fridge so we love it. Its especially good to keep them out of the cupboard under the sink where all the cleaning supplies are. We also put a latch on our freezer door since it pops open sometimes, and it helps to keep it closed. If you need to remove it, all you have to do is turn on a hair-dryer and blow hot air on it until the sticky-part gets soft, and then you can pull it off without the mess or without damaging anything.

Our Munchkin latch is our favorite simply because of the fact that it swivels out of the way when you unlatch it! The adhesive is very strong too. We use it to lock our oven door shut. It works great!
